TTC After a Loss

Introduction after a very long absence

I was told I should reintroduce myself since it's been two years since I have been active on this board.  I was active after my first loose for a short time.  I had a missed m/c in November 2011 followed by a D&C.  My husband was diagnosed with a Brain tumor the same day we discovered m/c.  Needless to say we had a really really bad day.  My husband had surgery and they removed the tumor the next week and we though we were going to be good to go.  We started getting ready to TTC again.  Then in December we had results from DH's tumor and it was a grade three Oligoastrocytomas this is a bad cancer that kills most patients and has an average life expectancy of about 5 years with the best treatments.  We banked sperm in Jan 2012 the week before DH started radiation and chemo.  We were able to get 7 straws with about average states on the SA.  Fast forward to November 2013 we got the ok to start trying again.  We got very lucky and I had a BFP right off even though we had not planed to try until January 2014.  I found out right before Christmas that my ultrasound the week before had not been good as the tech told me (and I believed as the OB had not called to tell me otherwise like they said they would) and I had another missed m/c.  We are going to try again as soon as we can.  I do not know what caused losses as the Dr. has not been interested in looking into it.  We are also dealing with IF issues that are still undetermined in there nature.  I have been looking at all my cycles over the last four years and noticed I have a long short pattern that seems to be very stable as in I have a 27-29 day cycle usually followed by a 21-23 day cycle.  My past BFP that have ended badly have come from the short cycles.

I am so sorry for your losses and all that you and your H have been put through. Is a referral to an RE an option for you or maybe switching to a different OB since it sounds like their care may be lacking?

I am so sorry for your losses and for all that you have had to go through. Hugs to you and your husband for being so brave and enduring these hardships.
My husband is also a cancer survivor (although his was very treatable). He was treated for testicular cancer in 2010. He underwent two surgeries and four rounds of chemo. We banked before treatment, but the quality was not fantastic due to the cancer. We may be using the banked sperm for our next pregnancy since his most recent SA came back as abnormal morphology (probably an after affect of the chemo). Our MC was a BO.

@HeathersSF11 I'm sorry your husband has also had cancer.  They told us the Chemo may affect sperm long term but we have not has a SA since his 16 rounds were finished.  My second MC could be a BO or else it's a missed one my Dr. is not really as helpful as I had hopped as in she still thinks I'm pregnant and that I'm over reacting.

Thank you for the welcome everyone.
As for my husband seems to be stable for now but we will have MRI scans every 3 months for a while still then eventually working up to every 6 months.  They will most likely continue for life.  We drive 4 hours for his appointments it was the closest Dr. that would treat him.  His cancer is known for coming back almost 100% of the time.  He also has seizures as a side effect from the treatments that he controls with medications since his brain has swelling.  We celebrated 6 months off of Chemo back on November 20, 2013.

I'm looking for a new Dr. as the only office in town seems to not be all that great.  She is newer to the area and was not here when I had my first loss so we though we would give her a try.  We had to drive into another town before and my husband hated the OB he described him as "the weird kid who was picked on and just wanted to see the girls naked type."  He also made me wait weeks after the hCG was low before doing an ultrasound to confirm my loss.  We are looking at Dr.s further away now, but it the wrong direction from my husbands Dr.'s why can't they all be in the same town.....
