happy monday and happy holidays, all!
DW and i are attempting a IUI this weekend. we did our first AI last round and did an ICI with just sticking the tip of the catheter in the cervix. dealing with the TWW and subsequent BFN(/chemical pregnancy) was way harder than i expected. so i figure why the hell not do IUI since i can order either type of vial from our donor. i've researched some "how to's" (but would still welcome and appreciate any pointers!!!) but haven't found anything about the safety of using preseed.
can preseed be put into the cervix/uterus??
thanks all!! happy holidays to everyone

fingers crossed for this cycle! it'd be fun to conceive right around christmas and to have our baby be due right around my bday in september

Me: 32 DW: 26 - married in october 2013!
TTC baby #1 at-home AIs with frozen donor sperm through cryobank, no meds
#1 early december 2013: 1 vial ICI/IVI at 8 hours past +OPK, likely a chemical loss at 9dpo
#2 late december 2013: 1 vial IUI, timing was way off, BFN
#3 took a month off and trying again mid-february... would love TWW buddies!
Re: IUI at home... some questions. any pros out there?
I found ICI's very successful without the added risks because the cervix acts as a filter before the sperm enter the uterus. Also there are arguments about "washed" vs. "unwashed" sperm (or fresh) because the liquid the sperm are naturally suspended in provided nourishment for their journey to the egg and may sustain them for a longer period of time. Also "washed" sperm only live about 12 hours so the timing has to be much more precise. (On of the reasons I believe many RE's monitor ovulation and induce ovulation - to better assist with the timing when doing IUIs). As a disclaimer these are only my thoughts based on experience and research. If you and your wife feel confident than it might be the right choice for you. Our midwife trained her partner to do at home IUI's so I believe it can be done safely and effectively. ;-)
Anyway - I wish you the best of luck and BFP this cycle.
