I thought the same thing but I just bought DD a leap pad for Christmas. We travel a lot so it will become very useful during the times we are in the car for hours at a time.
I actually kind of like Pottery Barn, and I love Williams-Sonoma.
In spite of this truth, I would never tell anyone that they should not give gifts for someone's second child.
Is this supposed to be some sort of dig at me???
No, it was WAY more general than that, because somehow liking Pottery Barn became synonymous with the bitches on the other forum who then said they also hate Pottery Barn, which then caused the Williams-Sonoma hate comments.
I'll tell you what. I promise you that when I want to call you out directly, I will call you out directly. Settle the hell down until that happens.
Perhaps shockingly to you, I had no individual thoughts about you prior to your completely unwarranted freak out in this thread. I had no recollection that you liked Pottery Barn at all, actually. I won't lie. I've got some thoughts about you NOW, but I didn't before. Of course, pregnancy has made me very fickle, so in about two hours I'll probably forget that I was ever this annoyed.
Why do married people post sappy love you notes (you are the best husband ever, thank you for everything you do for us, blah blah blah) on each others walls? It's 2013, send him a text. Or better yet, tell him when he gets home. I love my husband and I'm grateful for all he does for us but does that need to be posted on Facebook??? Me thinks not.
This bugs the crap out of me. People literally siting next to each other doting on each other on Facebook. Their weird, AW posts make me side eye their relationship not envy it. I have just as many sappy sweet nothing's to to tell my husband- but I do it to his face or private message. Because I have nothing to prove.
Immediate cause for unfollowing that friend.

I hate this. It's virtual PDA.
It seems like bragging no? My SIL and BIL do this, it drives me nuts.

My SO and I aren't even friends on facebook...hahaha. We've been together a year and a half and he says he doesn't ever go on it, just has it from college. He promises the next time he signs on he'll friend me, but I really don't care. My friends actually freak out about it more than I do. 'OMG he needs to friend you now! I can't believe he would do that!" Please, chill your tits, I'm much more concerned that he appreciates me in real life than on a computer. Also, I've gotten comments about things like not "being in a relationship" on facebook, and also about how the two of us don't plan on ever getting married "Aren't you worried he's going to two time you?" My response is always "If he can find time to cheat on me, good for him. I'm not worried. Also, if he can find another woman that can tolerate him, that's pure luck"
Why do my boobs look so good? Then I peed on a stick...

Also, when did we start hating on Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma? I must have missed that.
If loving PB, W-S, and Crate & Barrel is wrong, I don't want to be right.
I thought it was always tongue in cheek lol. What is a pottery barn anyway? Or a WS? *Runs to Google*

Williams-Sonoma is a very happy place. They sell nice cookware and ingredients (and by nice I don't mean senselessly expensive all the time; a lot of expensive cookware is expensive for good reason, even though some stuff gets a little silly). Also, for the quality of the item that Williams-Sonoma sells, their prices are very comparable to other retailers. When you add in that their customer service is pretty amazing, it's well worth it to shop there.
Pottery Barn is where you should always go to use the bathroom when you are in the mall, because their bathrooms are not only clean but beautifully appointed. They sell various home items: linens, furniture, dishes, lighting and such. They can be kind of expensive, but everything has this sort of comfy vibe to it, which to me is really appealing.

I didn't have a cell phone until I was already in my 20s...and that's because when I was 16, pagers were the go-to method of outside-the-home communication. Hell, the internet in the home was still a fairly new endeavor (and you really only had AOL as a choice) when I was in high school.

Holy shit I'm old.
YES @Jennypenny1014 143!!! LOL, cell phones were massive machines that had battery packs that you had to carry with them when I was in high school. My dad totally had one of those.
I feel like any couple that pours it on that thick via FB is just doing it for show. They probably don't even like each other that much lol.
I know for a fact that this is sometimes true. I've seen this back and forth sap on facebook (obvious sap, not just people saying nice things about their spouses) occur on the same day that I get a private message from one of them about how they are on the cusp of breaking up.
It's really kind of heartbreaking and it doesn't make any sense. Genuine communication might have gone a long way to a happier relationship for them.
Also, Pottery Barns in malls have bathrooms?? I did not know this!! I usually head to the Nordstrom bathroom when I'm in a mall in America. They always have nice bathrooms!!

Oh I totally think a Leap Pad is fine since it's geared toward kids, and is an educational tool. I think the OP was referring to, like, a Nexus 7 or iPad. In which case, I totally agree - spending that much money on a piece of technology that the child can easily break/lose/not be old enough to properly care for, all while having extremely limited access to anything because it's technically meant for adults, is stupid. Getting them something that resembles the big expensive technology that Mommy and Daddy have, but is fully functional and made to withstand a little more of a beating, while providing a valuable service (keeping kid entertained while simultaneously teaching them something), is awesome! I seriously considered getting a Leap Pad for DS this year for Christmas - he's barely 2 - but then we remembered that he still likes to dance (literally, put it on the floor and stomp/dance around) on his LeapTop that Grandma and Grandpa got him last year. We figure we'll wait til he's closer to the recommended age before we get it.

I totally read it as a blissberry dig too.
I am a sucker for some pottery barn kids too -- so you can lump me in with the snobs. Although I prefer crate and barrel / west elm / land of nod style stuff to pottery barn usually. No less expensive though. So snob I am!
Yeah, that blissberry name sounds familiar now that it's mentioned.
Honestly, I couldn't remember any of the names, but I thought it as several people on another board who basically called A14ers trailer trash and said we ALL need an etiquette lesson, or some craziness like that.
I just remember reading through the whole thing and seeing people on both sides seem to dislike Pottery Barn, and then Williams-Sonoma, and I was like wtf is happening in the world right now?

The one where we shop only has the tiniest sign, and it is around a corner, so it actually wasn't easy to find. I actually never even knew it was there until one day that I was in the Williams-Sonoma, which is right next door, and my husband said we should go the long way out of the mall so he could use the restroom. The manager then told us there was one in Pottery Barn. Seriously, we had somehow never seen it, but it was there, and it was amazing.

@littlelady77 I know a bunch of people have already responded to you, but as one of the people who is quite vocal about their dislike of weight comparison threads I just wanted to let you know that the kind of thread you are describing is 100% okay! My issue, like PP have said, is with comparing numbers because it is unhealthy. A discussion like yours is about seeking support and advice regarding healthy weight management for a pregnant woman, and if anyone tried to jump on you for that shame on them. They would be the ones getting a negative response, not you. Trust me, weight as a topic is not the issue. Comparing weight numbers as a topic is the issue. Please do post your topic when you feel comfortable.

my uo for today is that Im not at all bothered by the NSA being all nosey and up in peoples business... I personally like not being blown up and don't find much harm in some guy in an office possibly reading my text messages and emails to make sure that doesnt happen... hopefully he finds me entertaining...

Its too hard to care about it. I have nothing to hide and I don't like the idea of being snooped on, but, I also like the idea of keeping my sanity. I'm going with the "ignore" feature. Like me getting all up in arms about this will change ANYTHING.

eh throw an otterbox on them and they are more durable than a leap pad. Also have to disagree with the technology being for adults. There are more kids apps on my iPad than adult apps. My kids don't have one because they use ours and haven't expressed a lot of interest, but eventually they will. Hell in 6th grade the will be issued one by the school through twelfth grade. Every grade in DDs school right now has two iPad carts and they use them at least weekly in first grade.

Eh. To each their own then, I guess. And using them for specific things IN the classroom, where they stay, is one thing, but expecting a toddler to not beat the shit out of it because they don't know any better is totally different. The child should be old enough to understand how to properly take care of something before they should be allowed to have one for themselves, otherwise they should be given something that is made for their age. But that's my opinion. If you wanna give your 6 year old an iPad, that's your prerogative. Some kids are more mature than others and can handle more responsibility than other children their age.
I'll say, too, that my daughter is supervised with our iPads and will be with her kindle. It won't just be like loose in her you box. She also knows there are rules and she has to be careful with it.
