Stomach bug - diarrhea only?

Does anyone else's child usually only get diarrhea when they get a stomach bug?  When we picked up our son on Friday night from daycare, they were just cleaning up a huge blowout he had that was super watery.  I asked if anyone else in the room was sick and they said a few kids had been out a few days that week and one was sent home earlier in the day with bad diarrhea.  Our son only had bad diarrhea one more time that night and once on Saturday and has been fine since then.  No sign of vomiting.  He has had several diarrhea only bugs since he's been going to daycare, and only vomited 1 time.  Are some kids more prone to vomiting than others?

I hope so.  I am seriously afraid of vomit.  I had not gotten sick in over 20 years and got a bug this past summer and was up all night sick.  It was my worst nightmare.  Luckily I was able to spare my husband and son from getting it.  Ever since then I'm terrified my son is going to get sick and then get my sick.  Ugh, I hate this fear.
