Crib Mobile/Crib Height

When is it recommend to take down a crib mobile? What about lowering the crib mattress?

I never thought about taking down the mobile. I will lower the crib when he can pull himself up to stand.

I have read somewhere 5 months for the mobile but that seems early to me. I plan on taking it down when they've learned how to sit and hold themselves up better. The crib I will adjust when they are starting to stand.
