3mo - sleep transition help, sleeping in bouncer.

edited December 2013 in September 2013 Moms
My DD will be 3 months old next Tuesday. She still sleeps in her bouncer. I'm starting to feel really bad about this. When she was first born, we tried her bassinet and she would only sleep for 20 minutes at a time. When she was 3 weeks old, she fell asleep in her bouncer one night and I woke up 5 hours later wondering wtf just happened. Since then, she has slept so well every night, one 5-6 hour stretch, nurse, 3 hour stretch, nurse, one more hour of sleep then she's up. Pedi said it's fine but that was a month ago. I'm worried I'm delaying spinal development or something. I had a csection and ever since she was born, she doesn't like being flat. She sleeps next to our bed in the bouncer, swaddled. I can see and hear her perfectly fine but I'm feeling like we're getting close to the time where it's time to transition..just not sure how. RNP isn't an option as it's not available in Canada or shipment to Canada. Any ideas or anyone else's baby sleeping in something they technically shouldn't? I should also add, she hasn't been diagnosed but I believe she has a bit of reflux and I worry about her sleeping flat.

My LO is 10 weeks, and we just transitioned to the crib last week. He had been primarily sleeping in the swing, which I felt bad about, but was the only way we would get stretches of sleep at night. I had started weeks ago putting him in his crib after diaper changes for a bit for him to get used to it. When he would nap, he would fall asleep in my arms and I would put him in the crib. Each time it would be a little bit longer before he woke up. I started the same thing last week for bedtime, but when he wakes up I calm him back down, and leave the room when he is just about asleep or asleep. I have been having to go back in there many times before he is asleep for a decent stretch of time, which had been about 3 hours at a time. When he wakes up, he eats and goes back to sleep easily in his crib. I know 3 hour stretch isn't as great as what it was in the swing, but I know that the crib is better for him to sleep in and I will be going back to work in a couple weeks, and would like to have him there before then. It hasn't been easy, but I just keep telling myself it will get easier.

  • I second the idea about y using an incline pillow in the crib. My DD didn't like her crib at first and I think that's one thing that helped us get her in there. Good luck!
