Does whole milk cause poop/rash????

I haven't called my pedi yet, but while I was here I though I would ask others if you had experienced this when switching from formula to milk.  I have just in the last week began transitioning to milk and have only given my LO's 2 oz of milk mixed with 6oz of formula. It seems they are not taking to it well as they are having acidic, runny poops and getting rashes.  Is this normal or could it be sign of an allergy?  They sometimes poop like this when I give them yogurt too but without the rash. :(

  • It sounds like a sensitivity. What formula were they on? They may need a more gentle milk like goats milk than WCM.

  • I'd use an alternative. It does sound like a sensitivity, not allergy. DS had a terrible time with it, but by 3 was fine.

  • I haven't given cow's milk to my lo as he is only 9 1/2 months, but sometimes when we introduce new foods or drinks to him he gets like this. Rash and all. His last episode like this was when I gave him apple juice and luckily I was already taking him to see his pedi for his check up later that day. So while I was there I had to change his diaper and I got his pedi to look at it (the poop and rash) and he said it was a "reaction". Not necessarily an allergic reaction but that his tummy wasn't ready for it?

Anyways, I'd say see/call your pedi just in case! Its probably nothing but you never know!
