Pregnant after 35

Anyone else worry about pre-term labour?

First of all, let me admit that I am generally an anxious person who overthinks almost everything. I have this crazy worry of going into labour in my 2nd trimester or early in my 3rd trimester. I think that I'm more fearful this time because both of my other pregnancies were in my 20s. Someone please tell me that my worrying is irrational!

Re: Anyone else worry about pre-term labour?

  • I am not going to tell you your worry is irrational, but is it based on actual experiences you are having?  To worry is natural but unfounded worry is wasted energy.  I hope you end up having No reason for concern.  I would talk to my care provider if I had more than a passing thought about it.

  • No particular reason other than my history of panic attacks. I haven't had one since getting pregnant and I only started having them the last year or year and a half. They kind of came out of the blue and seem to have gone away but I guess I worry that if I did have another one, it could start labour. It's all really silly, I know :)

  • Panic attacks aren't silly, neither is concern for your baby's health I don't mean that at all!  I just hope you can use some relaxation techniques/other if you have a panic attack.  I don't think it is possible for it to cause labor but I don't know... Best wishes!

  • Thanks :) I have learned lots of relaxation techniques from a therapist I went to a few months ago. It helped alot and I think is the reason that I don't have full blown attacks anymore. The worrying hasn't really stopped but I'm just trying to take it one day at a time. Being pregnant is difficult when you're a control freak - which I am! :D
