Intro and LPD question

Hey ladies! I used to be pretty active in TTGP (and even before then when it was TTC) before I had my LO. We tried for her for nearly two years, had one early m/c before her. She turned 21 months yesterday and we've been trying for #2 since last December, with another very early loss in April. I am diabetic and have some luteal phase issues (the endocrinologist won't officially diagnose them and has referred me to a fertility clinic).

Here's my question - for those of you dealing with luteal phase defect, how long is your LP normally and what treatment have you received for it?

Me (33). DH (37). DD (2.2012). MCs x4. After 4 years & 7 months, due 4.2018!

    Welcome!

My luteal phase ranges from 8 to 10 days with spotting a day or two before AF.  I've tried various at-home solutions (various herbs and B-6) which had no impact on my LP and my doctor put me on progestorone for a while as well.  The progesterone got me one extra day (but it was usually a day of spotting), so she took me off of it and wants me to continue trying for a few more cycles before we go down the Clomid route.  Hopefully Clomid will do the trick.

I have PCOS and LPD. So far I have been given progesterone and Clomid as general treatments for my DXs. Without meds my LP is about 8 days. With meds it is about 12 days. Good luck and hugs!

I haven't been specifically dx with LPD, but I have dx myself with it as my progesterone levels are low and my LP is typically around 10 days with spotting for several days prior to AF. I am currently on my first cycle of Femara and Prometrium. I will let you know in about a week what the results are :) Good luck & welcome!

Without meds I typically spot 5dpo-10dpo, then full blown af for 5-6 days. The only thing that helped me was clomid and gonal f. Progesterone alone did squat. Btw, welcome and I hope your stay is short!

LPD can be caused by a number of different things, so the LP length doesn't necessarily have to be affected by it.  I have LPD and my LP is 15 days.  I don't have a progesterone issue, like many with LPD do.  My corpus luteum releases eggs prematurely and then breaks down which leaves my LP unsupported.  So while my progesterone might be fine, my lining begins breaking down.

So again, LPD doesn't have to come in one form with one kind of symptom.  It's complicated, which might be why they won't diagnose you.

Hello, I'm afraid I don't really have any advice for you on the LP issue. My LP seems to be an average 13/14 day. It's my FP that tends to be very short!

But, I did want to say hi and welcome! I'm new too.

Thanks everyone! I have Appts coming up with my regular endo, the RE, and my OB/GYN so I'm hoping once all of the tests are in they will have a clearer picture of what the issue is. My LP is 11 days pretty consistently so not too short, but my progesterone is pretty low and they (the endo) are suspicious of PCOS. They won't diagnose me because they pretty much just manage my diabetes and they want the RE to make any official reproductive related diagnosis. I honestly have no idea how long this will all take and how long to move on to the next steps - whatever those may be. But I'm glad to have a place to come and chat about it :)
