Dd has been saying mine when she doesn't want to give up something and giving me things and saying yours. Hearing pronouns when we've been stuck on mostly nouns with a few verbs thrown in for nearly two years is super exciting.
We got DD1's first report card, and she is doing awesome. At grade level in all academic areas, exceeding them in reading, and doing very well behaviorally, including "works cooperatively with others"! (Woo-hoo!) The only places she was dinged a bit were in PE for participation, and whether or not she is a "self-directed learner" who makes good use of her time -- at five, with ASD, I'll take that!
DH and I were over the moon. SO proud of my girl!
She has been going crazy with art at home, which even six months ago I never would have predicted. She made her own coat of arms as part of learning about medieval times at school, then came home and made one for me, DH and DD2 (with our first initial, drawing of our faces, favorite animal and favorite food, lol).
She went on her first kindergarten field trip this week, to the Denver Puppet Theater, and was SO excited about it. They made puppets on popsicle sticks while they were there (hers was a zombie) and then she came home and made one for her sister.
J's doing so well in school. Both in the resource classroom and in the mainstream class (which I was worried about because of the distractions), his teachers told us he's focused and really wants to learn. They said he's like a sponge. And, his resource teacher said that she can completely understand him now! That's super-duper huge!
Brag: The school scheduled our child study meeting for Tuesday--yay! I'm so relieved we're able to do it before Thanksgiving.
Funny: DD1 peeked her head into DD2's room while I was putting her down for a nap.
"Hey Mom, do you like my hair?" she said.
"Of course," I said.
Then she stretched her arm toward me, and I saw that she was holding a big chunk of hair.
"I cut it," she said.
I guess her fine motor skills really are coming along
Isn't it funny how we appreciate the "milestones" that parents of neurotypical kids probably wouldn't? I remember when dd had her first temper tantrum her slp/ot came for their visit the next day and I was excitedly talking about it. Lol.
And yes, auntie, it was so good to hear, especially given all we've been struggling through lately! A bright spot! There was even mention of the hope of one-day mainstreaming J. We're thinking that at least in math, this could be a real possibility in a couple years.
Sorry to post two, but I was so excited and couldn't wait until next week!! My DD does pretty well with her therapists but its very routine based play with them. Right when they hit the 45 minute mark dd says "done" and walks into her room to play by herself and decompress--it's like clockwork. Today when we hit that 45 minute mark she walked away, went to her toybox, got one of her own toys, brought it to her slp and initiated play with her. We were both freaking out showering her with praise--it was so exciting to see.

I know, she was so pleased with herself that I couldn't help but laugh.
@Auntie, I'm really glad she didn't try this experiment on her little sister
