Fingertip Dilated???

Just had my 36 week appointment and the Dr said I'm a fingertip dilated. What does that mean? I know it's not much maybe 1 cm? Anyone else been told this? Guess I should've asked the Dr.

Probably about 1 cm. I was told I was that much at my appt this morning, but she didn't say a fingertip, just 1 cm. Could stay that way for weeks with no change...just have to take it week by week at each appt!

I've been dialeted 2cms for the past 2 weeks now. 1 fingertip is probably a little less than that. It means your cervix is getting ready!

My doc told me I was a fingertip last week too. I asked my hubby and he said it literally means they can just fit a fingertip in.

Edit: seems OBs have conflicting opinions on this and it can be anywhere from half a cm to a cm, but generally it's a little less. According to google

Depends on the size of the fingertip!! I was 2-3 cms from 35 weeks on til I delivered at 39.4 last pregnancy

What all the others said. Just means things are starting to open. Doesn't really mean anything in terms of when baby is coming.
