Need help finding shoes

My LO is 7 months old and has little feet. In Carter's she wears a 3-6 month size. I've looked around too at Old Navy and Target and for what they have there the sizing seems about the same. I got a pair of Pedoodles in the 4-8 month size and they are like boats - not only too long but super wide, almost 3/4 inch of extra space in there. The problem is, she is a very active crawler and is also pulling herself up to standing and trying to move from there. I need shoes that have a sole with traction, but all the 3-6 month shoes I can find are "crib shoes" and the sole is smooth so she slips in them and it's dangerous. We have a hard time keeping socks on her feet and it's too cold to go barefoot so I'm trying to find shoes that will fit the bill. Can anyone recommend a brand that makes shoes this little with a non-skid sole? TIA

Re: Need help finding shoes

  • You don't need shoes until they can walk. If you want something to put on them for warmth in the winter use wool booties or something. It's best to keep them barefoot as long as possible whole their feet are growing. The shoes for growing feet are soft soles like "Robeez" but honestly, save your money.

  • Robeez.  I second that she doesn't need shoes.  Barefoot is best for that stage...best grip and best sensory learning.  That said...if it's cold, it's cold so sometimes you need something!  Try socks and robeez.  They cost a lot, so try used.  But frankly they are so worth it for keeping the feet warm and providing some grip.

  • We have been looking everywhere for shoes that stay on. We were told Robeez but didn't do it. She has a hard time keeping socks on due to her chicken legs. If they do stay on she takes them off. It's 40 degrees out. I'm buying the Robeez tonight
  • Thanks ladies, hopefully the Robeez will fit her tiny feet. Or maybe I can find some socks with skids on the bottom. I know it seems soon but the fact is she is trying to walk! Between hardwoods at home and linoleum at day care she is slipping. Of course I want something soft that will let her feet develop, we just need a little traction on the bottom.
