Pregnant after 35

Anyone use Aflec for hospital& postpartum time?

Hi,

I have always planned that as soon as I get a BFP, we are going out to get Aflec to help cover cost of hospital stay. We are also self employed, so if we don't work we don't get paid.

Has anyone actually used it in this capacity? How was it to use, easy a pita?

Re: Anyone use Aflec for hospital& postpartum time?

  • I had a Nurse friend some time ago that used AFLAC when she had open heart surgery.  She did eventually get paid, but she went through a TON of red tape to get the approval for payment.  No idea how AFLAC would be with pregnancy/hospital stay situation.

  • I would be extremely surprised if you could buy a policy once you are pregnant. I would contact an Aflac broker and understand what is covered and when you would need to have a policy in place in order for it to be in effect.

  • I have a really great Aflac agent and while I didn't use it for pregnancy/hospital stay, I used it when I was in a motorcycle accident.  It was quick and easy and she assured me it would work the same when I deliver.

  • I have done some more digging yes you can't get deliver for 10 months after buying the plan. Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure if it was even worth looking into getting or if it was....

Gives us something to think about!

    Thanks

  • I had 2 AFLAC policies (hospital indemnity and personal sickness) and it was affordable and worked out great for us! One or both of these policies (can't recall) also covers the baby if any NICU time is needed, so it's great peace of mind especially if you are self-employed. Feel free to PM me if you have more specific questions.

  • I used Aflac last time and it was great, I only had to fill out one form and I got back more than my actual hospital stay.  But the have a ten month waiting period for all pregnancy related claims.
