I called the OB department at our local hospital last night to report cramping, bleeding, and limited movement from the baby. The on-call midwife (who happens to be the one that "overlooked" the fact that I'm pregnant a few weeks ago when she diagnosed a UTI and prescribed Cipro...) told me to rest because it's normal to have all of those symptoms, and it's not likely that I'd feel much movement now anyway - she told me to rest and not think about it. Well, our actual prenatal provider got the message this morning from answering service that I had called with concerns. I told her why I had called and she has decided it IS important.
I am going to have an emergency ultrasound at 12 noon (EST). Please, please, please send happy thoughts my way. I am so beyond scared right now. Thankfully my husband can go with me.
****UPDATE****
Firstly - WOW, at all the love here!! You ladies are amazing!!
Our ultrasound answered a lot of questions. Our regular sonographer was at lunch, and as soon as he finished eating he came into the exam room to check on us and watched over the shoulder of the guy doing the scan - it was really sweet. My cervix is very long and completely closed, and my mucus plug is intact. (TMI WARNING) The pain and bleeding yesterday is likely from excess gas and fecal impaction. It's probable that I have a rectal fissure and the blood from that mixed with the copious amounts of vaginal discharge made it seem like something scary. And, the reason I haven't been feeling much movement down where I expected to, is that my uterus is unusually high (not something to be alarmed about), and the baby is sitting above my belly button with his feet right about level with my belly button, and my placenta is smack dab in the middle top of my uterus - cushioning a lot of knocks from the baby. This explains why I've been having so much trouble with bloating and shortness of breath. The sonographer did a mini-anatomy scan while he was checking everything anyway (that's why the scan took over an hour). We got the money shot - Gordon is definitely a boy.
His heart has 4 strong chambers, his bladder was full (and then he peed), his kidneys are spectacular, and he kept playing with his umbilical cord. He's measuring 3 days ahead and his heart is at a steady 150 bpm. We got some wonderful pictures and videos - I'll post a picture tonight after I get the disc loaded into my computer. We're so relieved and happy!! Now, I just have to solve the problems in my bum...
Thank you for reading this whole thing!! Here's some Halloween cake for your time.
