My son is now 6 weeks old and he still isn't responsive to faces. Whenever I try to get him to focus on my face, he looks around at the surroundings instead. He also doesn't smile while interacting with him, only in his sleep. From what I've read he should be both socially smiling and focusing on human faces by now. What age are you noticing your LOs doing these things?
DD is 5 and 1/2 weeks and while she does make eye contact occasionally she also really likes looking at the walls (they are bright orange although I think they just see black and white right now). She also doesn't smile yet but she hasn't had a 6 week growth spurt yet.
DD started social smiling around 4 weeks, she's 6 weeks now and smiles quite a bit. She will focus on our faces and make eye contact, but she definitely prefers to look at lights or windows
My lil gal is 8 weeks (born at 36 weeks), and she just now is starting to sometimes smile socially at me when I'm pulling faces. Mostly she smiles in her sleep. She still doesn't track either or focus - very rarely she'll look us in the eye. I think babies just have their own timeframe. I'm trying not to look at milestones too much but I feel ya i'm also sometimes anxious about it.
My LO will be 9 weeks tomorrow and he just started smiling socially, reacting to me, and focusing on my face more a few days ago. He also just became more aware of his surroundings and loves to lay on his back and just look around at everything. There is nothing wrong with your LO, babies do things when they are ready, just wait and keep your camera ready!!
8 weeks tomorrow. Got my first smile last week. Don't get a smile daily let alone more than one time a day. He would rather look around or stare... I know it's coming though!!
Henry is just about 2mo and will look at faces, but I've only seen him smile once, in his sleep. DD was a late smiler too and was 4mo before she giggled, and she is perfectly normal and very very social now, so I try not to get discouraged by other people's LOs reaching milestones before mine.
These things come at different times for different babies...anywhere between 4-8 weeks most often...try not to do too much comparing of your baby to others if you can and bring it up with a pediatrician if you're really concerned...some babies are just late bloomers
Lo will be 7 weeks Friday and yesterday he started smiling while I'm making funny faces at him. He sometimes looks at my face but still seems a lot more interested in staring at the walls. Usually doesn't track us yet though, we have to try to catch his eyes still. Every baby is different!
I agree with PP, kids will do things when they are ready and at this age there is nothing to worry about. DD started socially smiling and focusing at about 5.5 weeks. She is getting really good with smiling but sometimes you really have to work for it and even then she doesn't always do it and she's still getting the hang of focusing. She follows faces somewhat but she gets more excited about hearing voices she recognizes (mine or SO's when someone else is holding her).
