Daycare Tantrums

So Graham started going to daycare three days a week right after Labor Day. Overall I've been pretty impressed with the facility, except EVERY single morning when I drop him off he cries hysterically. Like, snotty, clinging onto my shirt for dear life, gasping for breath. Part of me knows that this is already a tough age as far as separation anxiety and it's probably harder for him since my mom had kept him up until this point. His teachers say he's fine after about 15 minutes after I leave, but the tantrums are really starting to wear on me. I guess it would be different if it was just once in a while, but it's every single morning. Did it take anyone else's LOs a while to warm up to daycare? Any suggestions?

It can take a while.  DD started in early July...DH drops her off and I pick her up.  She would cry at drop-off and she would also cry hysterically when I came to pick her up.  She would just get so overwhelmed when I see her.  Now she is happy at drop-off and pick-up but it took probably a couple months.  On the odd day that I drop her off, she'll cry quite a bit though because she is not used to it.

I know it's tough but it will get better.

It took Charlie a little bit to warm up to daycare as well, she just wasn't happy when we left her. But she's gotten better now, she will only cry on her bad days and I can hear it actually stop after I'm out of the room. She will go to the different teachers sometimes in the morning, we're still working on that but it's getting better. Hope it gets better for you too.

Dmitri's been going to the same center since January and he flips out in the morning for about 5 minutes every day.  If he had a snack in hand though there is no tantrum/freak out because he's distracted.

Thanks guys! I'll try to be patient with it. It just sucks to start every morning off like that.
