Okay, so literally this person posts al over the internet about tipping and restaurant service? Did a waiter kill her dog and feed it to her then demand a 20% tip or something?
I think she posted a lot of the same things in a restaurant thread a year or so ago. I remember ranting and raving about Outback and ranch dressing. Maybe it was a different poster, but I'm having serious déjà vu.

I have so many things to say. I feel like she's Howard stern and I would be lucky if she quoted my smart ass reply and rebutted.
99 problems but a tip ain't one.
We tip very well for good service. WHY are you acting like we don't tip, huh? I mean, if it's horrible service that's different and you know it.
Who spends the time to look up and post images of correctly cooked bacon to get their point across?! Bitch be crazy ! Hopefully when she has her baby she will calm the f*ck down and realize there are bigger things in life to care about besides whether outback made her bloom in' onion correctly! Sooo much writing. Who writes a novel about restaurant service experience?! She is crazy! I secretly hope she sees this and comes to J13, the boards been slow of crazies lately! @springs1
I am not crazy. I will always feel this way no matter what, even if I had a baby, STILL would be hurt by servers, still would be ME. NOTHING would change.
Lots of people write a novel. Have you seen planetfeed.com, complaints.com, my3cents.com, etc.? Lots of complaints on these sites about restaurants.
I am NOT the only person in this world that is bothered by bad service.
Maybe the UO here, but I somewhat agree with the point she was trying to make. Unfortunately it took a ridiculous amount of time and way too many pictures to get there. I was a server all of my teenage and early adult years, and it IS the responsibility (when possible) of the server to make sure the food is correct when it leaves the kitchen. I never got through a shift without having the kitchen correct at LEAST one mistake that was rung in correctly by the server, which is why I always made sure to compare tickets to what was on the plate. I also always took responsibility when the mistake was mine. I always hated when it actually was the kitchens fault because I was worried the customer would think I was just trying to blame someone else. I always tip at least 20%, 15% if they were horrible and there was no reason for it. I don't get worked up over my lack of condiments on the table or my coke refill though, so maybe I have low standards.

Yes, there are other exceptions. My grandmother is generally not a douchecanoe (only occasionally!) and is a crappy tipper because she's 83 and stuck in some time period when $3 is a good tip no matter what the bill is. When I'm out to eat with her I always sneak back to add more money to the tip.
I am a usually a good tipper because a) I know people make mistakes, b) I know working in the service industry blows and also made me grumpy and c) if someone is going to take off their clothes for me, they deserve a good tip.
Obviously c does not happen at restaurants. Usually.
This whole post reminds me of how much I hate going to restaurants with my MIL. She's very demanding and picky and I can always tell by the looks on the servers faces how annoyed they are by her....justifiably so. I always give them looks of sympathy and profusely thank them every time they return with more ice, because "honey, I asked for lots of ice. I just don't understand....."
I also see that she was making some (not all) okay points based on what I read. It was very excessive though. I waitressed for a total of 5 years and it was absolute hell. A coworker ran my milkshake once and spill it all over my table. I was literally on my way to get the milkshake when he walked away with it. It sucks that I got stiffed from a table of 7 because it was "my fault", no matter how many times I apologized for the other server and how free their meal was.
ALTHOUGH I have forgotten to put an order in before. I HAVE rang something in wrong. I DID forget a side of ranch every once in a while. I have delivered bacon that wasn't perfect. It happens when you have a ton of tables and are running around like crazy to try to help all of your customers. HOWEVER, the majority of the time it was the kitchen or the expo who I HAD to tip out that delivered or made the wrong food. It's not always your server's fault.
LOL I can't even read that nonsense. I get where she's going and of course servers bear some responsibility... but I can't tell you how many times I got yelled at for over/undercooked steak, long wait at the door, and tons of things that were. not. my fault. Thank god I don't wait tables anymore.
What I find so funny is many people won't just say something when things aren't going how they like, so as a server you're trying to work it out in your head. I'd say most servers would try their best to accommodate the patron, as they provide their income.
So yeah. Thanks for posting, this was good distraction from my rumbly tummy this morning.
Holy shit. This explains a lot. She thinks servers must have lots of extra time since they write "thank you" on the check?? I think it's pretty clear who has too much time on their hands...

I'm just going to go ahead and say that anyone who tips less than 20%, unless they have actually seen the server spit in their food, is a douchecanoe. Servers make $2.13 an hour BECAUSE IT IS ASSUMED THEY ARE GETTING TIPPED.
NO, because they *EARN* their tip, it's not some ENTITLEMENT! If you steal my money, I steal from your tip. That's FAIR and JUSTIFIED. Some waiter decided to keep 31 cents of our change, so what I did, got the 31 cents, stiffed him for STEALING! YOU STEAL FROM ME, I STEAL FROM YOU, but the difference is, I don't have to tip by law, but they have to give me all of my change BY LAW! I also reported the theft to the manager.
Anyone is a douchecanoe if they tip automatically 20% because no one will LEARN from their mistakes or laziness or lack of caring. They won't have ONE INCENTIVE to try harder next time NOT to CREATE the problems they created in your service.
WHY are you people so like "AWWW POOR SERVER" as if they are BETTER THAN US CUSTOMERS? WHO THE HELL ARE YOU TO THINK THEY ARE ABOVE US? WE ARE******************EQUALLY**************** IMPORTANT! It doesn't matter if the server made $20 an hour plus tips, because if the tipping was the same 18%-20% norm range, I would still tip in the same manner. I don't care WHAT they get paid per hour if they don't do a good job and if they steal or don't care about me, I AM SURE THE HELL AM NOT GOING TO CARE ABOUT THEIR PERSONAL ISSUES WHEN THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT MINE!
When they *CARE* about MY DINING EXPERIENCE to not STEAL, TO CHECK THE FOOD FOR OBVIOUS ERRORS, TO BE NICE ENOUGH TO SAY THEY ARE SORRY, TO NOT LIE TO OUR FACES THAT THEY AREN'T AT FAULT WHEN THEY ARE, THEN THEY GET THEIR GOOD TIP.
For example, a server let's say forgets a side of ranch. I don't even remind them, they just say "I will get you your side of ranch in a moment, meanwhile I sit and wait for 2 minutes literally in this example(have waited 5 minutes and over for that before to finally eat my food the way I enjoy it and ORDERED it when they could have easily brought that out AHEAD OF TIME if they are forgetful like that or too lazy to check if they have everything BEFORE they leave the kitchen. Let's say as usual they don't say they are sorry the MEAN ASSHOLES they are. I STILL am NICE ENOUGH TO TELL THEM "THANK YOU" when they bring me the ranch. THAT'S HOW NICE I AM AND WHAT I GET BACK, NO F'ING SORRY, F' THAT 20%, they just got 14%-15%. You want to be mean, BACK AT YA IN THE TIP BITCH! When you APOLOGIZE, you can get 17% or 18%.
Just because they make $2.13/hr doesn't make them ENTITLED to get the tip. If that were so, the tip would be included rather than the *CUSTOMER* getting to decide it.
