Babies on the Brain

I hate painting prep.

We are painting the nursery this weekend (!), and I'm a quarter of the way finished with taping off the trim. I'm trying to finish that before DH gets back from camping so we can jump in with the paint tonight. It takes forever! Not to mention that I need to move furniture to get to two of the walls. Bleh.

I guess this is one advantage to adopting, I still have plenty of energy and maneuverability to do things myself. :)

What are you fine ladies up to today?

Re: I hate painting prep.

  • I feel like super woman.

I have started a pot of chili using dry beans, baked a cake, mix the corn meal for fried corn bread, and other odd and ends in the kitchen. I have been to Target, Kroger, CVS, and IGA. I also made breakfast and lunch. I did a few loads of laundry. I'm exhausted.

  • Fried cornbread?!?

I'm finishing up prep for FIL's birthday party tomorrow. And my house is finally warm since the repairman just left and managed to get out furnace working again. Other than that, trying to keep the three babies happy, clean, and fed (one has pneumonia, the others are recovering from colds) while DH is working, laundry, dishes, and filing.

  • You all make me feel like a lazy lump. All I have accomplished is working a little from home, driving into the office to get a few things done and print a 900 page report. I should be working on the report, but instead I am sacked out on the couch. I am blaming the progesterone for zapping my energy. Now I am waiting to go out to dinner with DH.

    PAIF/SAIF Welcome!

  • Fried cornbread is the shit to most people. I don't like it. It is made like pancakes, but with cornmeal batter.

  • Oh OK. I was envisioning something like fritters or a state fair novelty sort of thing. We do cornbread waffles with chili on occasion.

  • I just want to say that I agree with you!  The worst part of painting -- by far -- is the prep work it takes to make it look nice!

  • So far today, I have been to the mall and bought 2 pairs of maternity jeans (and ate a cinnabon), took the dog to the groomers, made lunch, did laundry, and cleaned out my make-up drawer.

Later today J and I will be going to the fabric store to finish up her Halloween costume, then we will be carving our pumpkins.  I'm hoping to finish cleaning out the office tonight, but I am dubious it will get done.

  • We had our newborn/family pictures. Eleanor was awake the entire time (3+ Hours) and cried for the last bit. I wasn't able to get a few shots that I wanted. I wore (maternity) jeans. It was the first time I put on non sweatpants or pajama pants since she was born. Then h went hunting and she screamed for an hour and a half. I don't know what her deal was.

  • Bravo to all of you - I feel beyond lazy for the little bit I accomplished this weekend.  I am totally with you on the painting and thus glad our to-be-baby's room is a nice neutral green.  Am vowing to work decor around colour and not paint. Ever.
