If baby won't nap...

How long do you wait after putting LO down for a nap before giving up? Tumaini has been in bed for almost an hour, sometimes crying, sometimes chatting, and I've been going in every five minutes if she was crying, and rubbing her back, but now she won't even lie down. She had closed her eyes for a few seconds, and then woke up again. It's her only nap of the day, and she usually sleeps at least two hours, but closer to three. Do I give up and take her out of bed?

I usually let him cry. We VERY rarely have this issue after letting him CIO several months back when he was 7ish months, and he typically goes down very easy for naps. He occasionally fusses when we first put him down and I leave him to sort it our and he is usually out in 30 mins tops. If he is all out crying, standing in his crib, and just getting worked up, it usually means he is not going to go down. I'll go get him, play for maybe 30ish minutes, and try again (if I know he is tired) the second time usually works and he goes down right away.

  • She's finally sleeping. It's the first time we've had an issue with nap time. She has a set routine, and as long as we follow it, she never fusses more than a few minutes. I think next time I'll take her after 15-20 minutes. Thanks!
