Gap coming home outfit sizing

So I am struggling with what size to order for our coming home outfit.  They sizes are under 7lbs or 0-3 months.  For my first son I bough an outfit from Gymboree which was 5-9lbs and he totally swam in it.  He was born at 7lb 4oz and this one should be similiar.  What would you do?  Anyone know how Gap clothes run?

Newborn. My kids wore newborn size for at least a month.

I agree, newborn.  The 0-3 pieces I have are way too big for a newborn.

Gap runs big, IMO. DS was huge and the 0-3 month outfit we bought to bring him home in swallowed him. He couldn't even wear it.

IMO Gap runs small and/or shrinks.  I had a couple of 'up to 7lbs' for DS2 and he could never wear them.  He was 8 lbs at birth, so I guess that makes sense.  He did however wear newborn for a few weeks in other clothes, like Carters.

Can you just get 2 sizes? That would probably be easier than guessing if your LO will fit.

Which outfit are you looking at? I am in love with a cream and navy sweater outfit for LO, but I'm having trouble justifying the price. Which one do you like?

I recently bought a huge thing of over a hundred newborn size outfits a woman on craigslist was selling since her baby outgrew them. There was only one gap outfit, and it coincidentally was also the only 0-3 month outfit. Based on that I'd say some gap clothes run small.

In my opinion, just buy two cute outfits, one size newborn and one 0-3. Keep the tags on the newborn one so you can return it if baby is too big. if its not too big, youll have two different adorable outfits for pictures.

I agree that they run big. My son was 8 lbs 11 oz and the 0-3 month penguin sweater onesie I had for him was ENORMOUS on him, even with cloth diapers.

I will also say that the buttons on Gap's sweater onesies were made by the devil.

I would probably buy both sizes. With both my girls I bought 0-3 bc they said they would be big and they weren't and the clothes were huge. This time I bought both in case maybe this one will be huge or maybe he will just be average like the rest.

Gap runs huge IME. DD was over 7 lbs and she wore the under 7lbs stuff for a week or two at least.
