Hey there!

Just wanted to check in and see how life is going with 2 LO's. How is DD? How is DS? How are you?!

  • Hi! We are okay. It is a circus at our house but we are muddling through. G is still a bit tenuous but he has good days and bad days with learning to share attention(in addition to being an absolutely adorable clingy high needs slightly obsessive 2 year old as a baseline).

A is growing like a weed, and while she has some reflux thus far it is nothing like her brother's was (thank God) and thus far no clear signs if dairy/soy allergy...so while I am sleep deprived it is not as bad as with G.

I am okay. Recovery this time was much smoother than last time (Csxn both times) and I am in a much better place mentally than I was 6 weeks postpartum with G. I will say though that this 2 little kid lifestyle is tough. And I have help with G 4 days a week which I know most don't. At this point it just subsumes every nanosecond of the day. We get nothing done other than laundry and grocery shopping. Hoping that improves (and knowing it probably will) as A gets more settled and is not on the boob every 2 seconds (or so it seems).

How are you? Not long now, right? Does your DD have a clue what's going on? We tried to "prepare" G but he really didn't get it - and still really doesn't on a lot of levels.

  • I'm glad to hear things are going as well as it could for having two kids. I remember how tough things were for you with G those first few months and it's great to hear that A does not have the same allergies that G does. Are you still on leave? Will the nanny watch both G and A when you return to work?

You make having two sound so enticing! I barely get anything done except laundry and groceries with just one as it is. Hah. I am less than 6 weeks away and completely unprepared. Everything is still in storage and the room is piled full of junk at the moment from our move over a month ago!

DD knows there is a baby sister in my stomach but has no clue her world is about to get rocked. Poor kid has gone through a move and a new school in the past month, and now this. It's going to be a while before she recovers. Or maybe it's me who is still trying to recover.

  • Yes, I'm on leave till after the holidays. It is sort of a maternity leave in exile, though, as I largely hang out with A upstairs in the master bedroom while G does his thing with the nanny downstairs. He is so clingy that for me to be downstairs with them was causing more stress than it was worth. And he refused to even remotely listen to the nanny and just had too many meltdowns, likely from his routine being disrupted (he is very routine dependent and still recovering from the move - and he was also freaked out when I disappeared to go to the hospital for 4 days despite our attempts to prepare him). So it is a very weird leave in that way.

The nanny claims she will handle both of them when I go back to work, but I am starting to worry about whether that is true or not. G is labor intensive, nevermind the little one. We will see. If she can't handle it we'll have to find someone new, which stinks as otherwise she is great with G.

  • Oh, no! I hope it works out that she can watch both G and A. I can't imagine what changing nannies would be like for G. Are there times when she watches them both so that you can get a little of a break?
