VBAC

A VBAC with less than 18 months after section?

Has anyone done this safely? I haven't talked to prospective doctors yet. Thanks!

Re: A VBAC with less than 18 months after section?

  • I am hoping to do it.  My LO is due in May, which will make it 14 months between c-sections.  I talked to my doctor on Friday and she is open to letting me try VBAC if I go into labor on my own.  I'm happy for the possibility!
    Me: PCOS   DH: No issues

    August '16-January '17: Clomid + HCG + IUI/TI = BFN
    February/March '17: Menopur + HCG + IUI = BFN
April '17: Menopur + HCG + TI (due to too many mature follicles) = BFN
May '17: Took off due to cysts
June' 17: Menopur + HCG + IUI = Cancelled due to 8+ mature follicles
    November '17: Clomid + HCG + IUI= BFN
    December '17: Menopur + HCG + TI= BFP!!!! Due August 2018

  • I would have had a vbac 17 months after my csection.p, but I lost the baby. My ob was still fully supportive of my wish to vbac. He had given me no time restraints between pregnancies.
  • So sorry to hear that, Holly! :(

  • If all goes well I will be having one in May as well. My dr is extremely supportive despite a c section this past March.

. Thank you. I appreciate that. I have since vbaced, and my deliveries were only 21 months apart.
  • I will try for a vbac in January, 12 months after my C/S

Your doctor allowed you to have a vbac? Mine is going to be almost 12 months after csection. But I am not sure if my doctor will go for it.

  • The group of doctors I go to initially tried to say oh you have to have a c/s but after more talking and being a nurse they said they all apparently met and discussed it and decided that they were okay with me trying as long as I go into labor on my own and by my due date, but they never seemed really concerned with the fact it was less than 18 months....where I live VBAC is not the norm so that is why I think I really had to voice how I felt to get all the doctors to take me seriously. From the research I have done there is not much literature that says being less than 18 months post c/s puts us at greater risk for UR. the problem I think is more there are just not many studies out there about UR in less than 18 months post c/s. Before you talk to your doc make sure to do some reading up on it and stick to how you feel....I am hoping for a vbac and will do everything I can to help my chances but no that in the end it is in God's hands :)
  • Yeah I have been researching a lot! I was really pushed around with my first delivery. I trusted them...but then afterwards I thought about it and my csection was preventable. Thanks for the info! I will def. take your advice!
