Anyone use these?
https://www.pumpinpal.com
Mine just arrived today after my LC recommended them. Here's hoping they kick my pumping up a notch! Commence pumping in 3... 2... 1...

Update: I'll spare re-posting the details (check out my posts below), but pumping is more comfortable and production appears to be steady or increasing! Considering there is a 100% money back guarantee I have no reason to tell anyone not to try them.

Re: Update! Pumpin' Pal Results

  • Never heard if them, but I'm highly curious. Please let us know how it goes!
  • Loading the player...
  • 100% money back guarantee so I'm sold! I'll try anything at this point...
  • Also never heard of them but it makes sense! Hope it helps! Interested in your results!

  • Good luck! Please keep us updated!
  • Have them. Definitely more comfortable but I don't think I get as much milk. IMO

  • Mobile won't let me edit original post, so here are preliminary results: I normally pump 3-4 oz at night and it usually takes me 20 min to get that and with quite a bit of massage. I just got 5 oz in 14 min with very little massage, and hardly any discomfort. I'll see what I get in the morning and post an official results then, but it's looking good!

@purplepeanut6 How long have you been using yours?
  • If it helps, @ChrissieMeas, I dropped from 27 mm to 24 mm Medela flanges the week before last after another poster told me that my pumping experience didn't sound right. I would pump for 13 min before getting anything out, then pump for another 15-20 min to get 3 oz.

Now with the 24s I start getting output in the first 3-5 min.

If these puppies don't help, it might be worth changing the flange sizes?
  • I already did that. After 2 sessions with the LC we figured out I have two different sized nipples so I use one 24mm and one 27mm, but they still hurt like hell with suction cranked all the way down. DS is a shallow latcher (working on that) but he is essentially nursing on my nipples only and not taking enough areola in, similar to the standard flanges. My nips were just taking a double hit with no time to heal so these new flanges give them a nice break.

Now if we can get DS to open up when he latches and stay on that way I'll be a happy Mommy!
  • I'm on my LO #2 using them to pump. I had severe pain with the regular medela flanges and the pumpin pals were the only relief I ever found. I use coconut oil to lube my nipples when I pump and have had no issues for more than a year of pumping with them.

Yikes!!! That sounds very painful :( if it's any consolation, DD got much better at nursing at about 11 weeks. Fx that the new flanges help!
  • Yeah, they look pretty cool, definitely interested as its getting harder and harder to keep up with DS' increased intake (pumping 2x day at work).

  • Sorry to semi-hijack here as well, but for the ladies using pumpin' pals, what size medela flanges did you have? I use 24s as well, and wanted to try pumpin' pals , but was worried the mediums would be too large.

I'm shifting between the Pumpin' Pals small and medium, trying to see which one works best for me. I'm a 24mm in Medela but these aren't really fitting based on nipple size, it seems to be much more about the whole boob. My schedule was screwed up this morning so I didn't get to pump at my usual time, so I can't compare production levels there yet. I did try switching back to the Medela flanges after my pumping session, though, and had no further production which is a good sign for the Pumpin' Pals. Tonight I had another 5 oz which is still up from my previous 4 oz with the regular flanges, and once again that is without lots of kneading and massaging to stimulate letdown. My evening sessions have always been a consistent 4 oz until now so I consider that a good sign.

Thanks! I hope that DS improves. He is almost 11 weeks so FX. We are working with a lactation consultant and a pediatric chiro, hoping something helps soon.
  • I may have to try these. Thanks for posting this.

  • I'm so glad you posted this!!  I had never heard of them?  I think I need to order!
  • Have any of you tried the hand-free strap from this company and also the hands-free bra from Medela?  Wondering which works better...  I was about to buy Medela one, but now I'm thinking I should try this kit first.

I have the hands free bra form Medela and it works great I love it. I use it on my way home from work.

  • I like the Simple wishes bra best. I do use the hands free strap from PP for my MOTN pump since  I usually just sit back with my iPad. It just holds the bottles up and doesn't give any inward pressure.

This, although I have the medela hands free not the simple wishes. I think I would buy the simple wishes instead of the medela. Also the "hands free" from PP is just a string around the neck to hold them vertically, so it's good for lounging but not moving much BUT it is a quick set up compared to all other options.
  • have used them for a few weeks.

  • I've been really happy with the pumpin pals, too. I'm surprised more moms don't know about them 'cause I think they can really help a lot of moms that seem to quit because of pain issues. Sometimes I think LC's try and avoid the pain issues and just say work through it when it really affected my output. Once the pain was gone my supply went up. OK, off my soapbox.LOL
