We are having our 3rd boy. We already have a Richard and a Joseph, which we call Richie and Joey. I definitely want something that flows with those names. We don't seem to love any names, unfortunately, but we have come up with 2 maybe's. We're set on the middle name being James. Last name is 3 syllables and starts with an M.

Love Thomas and Tommy or TJ are great nn. I like TJ as you thought of since it's less used.

I like Matt as a NN for Matthew.  Richie, Joey and Matt.  Great names!  For what it's worth, Richie will probably prefer the NN Rich when he gets older because Richie is pretty juvenile, so for the majority of their lives you will have a Rich, Joey and Matt.

Love Matthew.  It's my brother's name-- he mostly goes by Matt.
