Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Trying to walk... Seriously?

My son is going to be 7 months old tomorrow.. He has been pulling himself up in his crib and out ottoman for the last week.. He is obsessed with standing on his own if he's holding on to something.. Seems like he's only happy if he's doing it.. Well now he started taking steps while holding on to the ottoman.. Isn't he a little young to start doing this? Anyone else's baby doing this?

Re: Trying to walk... Seriously?

  • James is. He has crazy leg strength. H and I were both 9 month walkers. Looks like we bred one.

  • DS will be 7 months on the 13th, and loves standing. He's been pulling himself up holding our hands, and takes steps with us. He hasn't quite figured out how to do all this holding onto other things though. He also hates being on his tummy, and doesn't really roll or crawl. He has rolled, but not much at all.
  • Mine is 6 months and standing up on things. Totally uninterested in crawling... Time to start baby proofing!

  • I was an early walker at 9 months and now DD is 6 months and wants to stand all the time.  I know walking is just around the corner and we haven't even gotten around to babyproofing for a crawler yet!
  • I walked at 7.5 months old, so it's possible! My sisters two girls both at 8 months!

  • My LO is just about 8 months, and all she wants to do is stand.  She has no interest in crawling at all, I think she might just skip it and go right to walking.
  • my LO started standing at 6 1/2 months and now at 7 1/2 months walks along couch and ottoman too. Plus he pushes his walking toy down the hall, I am amazed every time.

  • I was 7.5 months when I took my first steps
  • Yes.  My daughter's been doing the same thing.  The day she started crawling, she also started pulling up.  Now she stands on her own for a few seconds.  I can see the gears moving in her little head, trying to figure out how to walk!  Too soon!!!
