Another Monday...

I hope all you lovely ladies are having as a good of a Monday as possible. 

I have mixed feelings on this Monday morning.  On the good side, it's our 2 year anniversay today and based on the RE's orders we have to BD since we triggered on Saturday night so I'm sure to get lucky! 

On the bad side, both DH and I are federal employees so if the Congress can't figure out the budget by midnight tonight, we are both temporarily out of work until they figure it out.  Supposedly, we have to work 4 hours tomorrow for an "orderly shutdown" but then will be on unpaid leave until the budget is resolved.  Since we both had 8 days of unpaid leave due to other budget issues this summer, I can tell you I'm not looking forward to losing any more pay.

I hope everyone is looking at a fantastic week ahead!  Anything exciting going on?

Ugh...I hope the budget issues get resolved before midnight! I think I read at most they expect one pay week to be affected, but you would get that pay back once things are resolved? I hope that is the worst case scenario! ((hugs)) to you for having this unneeded stress.

@Eliz77 - Hopefully we would get back pay.  The last time this happened in the mid 90s all employees did receive back pay.  With all the budget issues this year though, I'm not sure what would happen.

That's terrible to be in limbo like that. I would be so stressed about losing pay like that. Hope they get their act together. Hugs...

@ninthgirl I'm so sorry to hear your family is impacted by this as well.  It's really a tough spot the government puts the employees in.  Working for the federal government used to be considered a stable job with good benefits but I don't think either is true anymore.

Ugh, that sucks and seems totally unfair. Hopefully you and your hubby can put it out of your minds for atleast tonight and enjoy your anniversary. FX it's a lucky one!

CallyLilly, I hope you're able to enjoy your anniversary despite everything else going on, and I hope Congress somehow pulls through with some sort of agreement at the last minute!

@CallaLily30 I was wondering who else is also a federal employee on TTCAL. Both DH and I are federal, however DH was labeled essential so he will be working regardless (although, his pay check is not guaranteed).

I am rather annoyed with our government for not working together to figure out the budget earlier well before the deadline. If the gov does shut down, I'm going on a road trip to visit my grandparents though!!

Congrats on your anniversary! That sucks that you have that looming over your head tonight. I hope they get their act together and figure things out. It doesn't seem fair that this could negatively affect you and your family. FX that things work out tonight.

I'm so sorry to hear you guys are in the same boat we are as federal employees.  It doesn't seem like the government cares at all about the employees.  At least in my office, we work very hard to support our military forces and it really hurts morale to see the policitians don't think we are doing anything worthwhile.

Happy anniversary!  I am actually watching the news now about the government situation.  FX that it doesn't shutdown.  It seems as though we have been in this situation before and the government did not choose to shutdown?  I don't remember when this happened in the past but FX that it is a repeat incident (that it does indeed stay up and running, to be clear).

I'm sorry that the government is stupid and f'ing with your lives.  As someone else said, I hope common sense prevails (sometime soon!!!).  FX everything is figured out soon.

We had my aunt's 60th birthday party and 2 5K walks to participate in.  I went to all of it (yay me!! :-bd ) and walked in 1 of the walks.  I had mentioned earlier in the week to the organizer of the walk (my cousin) that I wasn't feeling well so she set me up to hand out water at the half way mark (woo hoo! <:-P ) with the 9 month pg lady (really?!?! ( ).  She didn't know though so I can't fault her but it did sting.  Thankfully (because my family likes to drink a lot) we had a "support" van that carried beer!  ~O) Ha.  It was good to get out and be around people & even walk a little, I've been on the couch too often lately.  This week is my first week back at work and I'm working through what to tell my staff. I know I don't need to tell them anything but they are panicky and I don't want them to think I'm dying.  Any thoughts?
