XP: kindle fire?

This is a so from SAHM.

We want to get DS (4) a tablet for Christmas. We've been advised to not bother with leappad, so we were thinking maybe an ipad mini. I noticed that toys r us has kindle fires on sale tonight, any experience with this? Would it have as many apps/games as an ipad would?

    Good to know! I haven't heard much about the ultra version, so that was making me a bit hesitant as well.
