The word rape

Do you think it's appropriate and/or funny to use the word "rape" in a joking manner?

For example: "we raped your team" (when winning a sport)

Or

"I'm about to rape this fool" (playing a video game)

It doesn't make me personally uncomfortable, but I don't like the fact that it could make others feel shitty. I don't think it's okay to use it.

I think it can be an appropriate word when used to describe something actually violating and horrifying, eg "the rape of Nanking" or to say the destruction of the rainforest is a "rape of the environment" or the like.

To use it in a hyperbolic manner is insensitive and diminishes terrible things, akin to calling someone a Nazi because they're a real stickler about something.

I'm not personally offended, but I don't think it's funny to use it in that manner.

As with all things, it depends on your audience and context. I'm not offended by most things but know that it's a trigger for some people, so I don't use it often.

I don't normally use the word out of context. I don't personally get upset by it, but having been sexually assaulted before, I can appreciate how it might upset someone who has. There are plenty of other words out there I can use that don't upset people who have already had enough to deal with.

My SIL said this a week ago. As in "we really raped that customer on the price". I was kind of shocked and didn't say anything. If she uses it again I'm going to bring it up because I think people shouldn't use that word so casually.
