UO Recap: New Regime Edition

So there was some awesome song I heard on the radio last night where the premise was “It’s great to be me” and someone telling the singer “It’s nice to meet you” and him replying “I know”. It was pretty damn funny. But now I can’t figure out what song it was and quote it.

    @LoisLayn23 thinks people need a refresher course in critical thinking every 5-10 years. She’s right, but I think a lot of people wouldn't pass it the first time around. Popular

    @LoisLayn23 feels TB really needs a sarcasm font. Popular

    @pghmortdoll thinks dealing with a newborn that doesn’t sleep is easier than her toddler.

    @Little Jerry feels people who abuse generous store return policies are assholes. Very Popular.

    @MotherOfPearl85 thinks anyone who gives Beyonce crap about not combing her daughter’s hair is an idiot. Can we still give her crap for naming her daughter Blue?

    @IamInigoMontoya thinks most people who sit around and criticize everything Obama does are just racist assholes. Discussion inducing; I think all racists hate Obama but not everyone who hates Obama is racist; there were people who hated Bill Clinton for similar reasons.

    @Spooko doesn't think Bruno Mars’s Gorilla song should be on the radio, and use of gorilla imagery for a song that is supposed to be sexy is odd.

    @RiverSong82 doesn't like starbucks

    @ByeBabyBunting thinks it is silly to include the information that someone is gay when you're talking about other areas of history. Discussion inducing.

    @kiraliz2 thinks America’s affinity for Israel is weird. Shame this was posted at 4:45 am my time, I could have gotten into this.

    @IamInigoMontoya thinks violence in the workplace is fun to joke about, and her co-workers shouldn’t be wet blankets about jokes.

    @M&MHaveMyHeart thinks an interview with 7 people is really lame. This is just a fact. Inevitably you will have 1-2 people asking the questions and roughly 5 audience members. Now, you can give a PRESENTATION to 7 people and then spend the day in interviews with them.

    @Mom2Oli feels if you are always bitching about not having enough time or money with one child you shouldn’t get pregnant with a second. I see her point, but oopsies happen.

    -Newb vs. Toddler discussion-Gay discussion

    @Manneek1977 says Digimon is superior to Pokemon. This must be her trolling… right? So wrong.

    @CTGirl30 used to hate country until her DS decided to like it on long car rides. Now she wants some hot country guy.

    @missyishere thinks this has been one of the finer weeks of Parenting. Popular, and I agree.

    @Manneek1977 believes nurture is more powerful than nature. I tend to feel on most traits it’s pretty close to 50-50.

    @ncgirlgoingtori doesn’t think Jon Hamm is sexy unless he’s playing Don Draper. So wrong. He’s really really funny in comedies.

    @Mackalien13 doesn’t think there is anything wrong with wanting to rehome your children.

    @LoisLayn23 likes ObamaCare. Popular.

    @LexiLupin has no interest in seeing Hillary run for President in 2016. I feel like she might be our best shot to stop someone like… wait… who the heck will the Republicans run?

    - more newborn vs. toddler discussion, specifically about L&D

    @nixieknox3 thinks 3 children are easier than 2. This math confuses me.

    @Sterling13 thinks there is too much social media. She says, on an online forum. I don’t have instagram and have never regretted it for a minute.

    @scoutkate will never be tired of Same Love. Sadly, for me, it has lost a bit of it’s power compared to the first few listens. I still dig it, but not with the same intensity.

    - nature vs. nurture talk.

    We can talk about Israel now if you want @luckydad. I thought it would be more discussion inducing but I was wrong.
    Well, reading the discussion, I do agree we shouldn't blindly support the Israeli government. Israel also is a country a bit like the US in that there are extremists on both sides of the Palestinian issue and a lot of moderates who just wan to go to work, raise their kids and have safe, happy families. From what I've heard on NPR, your average Palestinian on the street also just wants to be safe and earn a living.

    My understanding is it is extremist elements within the Palestinian movement (and possibly Iran and friends) who derail the two state solution. If the US didn't protect Israel, there are other nations in the Middle East that would probably try to wipe it off the map, creating increased social and economic upheaval. It's a complex issue and one without easy solutions, and the history of the whole region is just a mess.

    The Obama administration has criticized settlement building. And they get ignored. Should we threaten to take away aid? Become isolationists? Obviously there is a challenge anytime you criticize with no threat of action.

    Is it really that interesting if two people you don't know say mean things to each other and it gets squashed?

    Actually that's what I've learned so far. The (other) Mods do a pretty bang up job squishing the really bad stuff as it pops up pretty quickly.

    Yep! Breastfeeding is more important than my Amazon Prime problem! One of these days you guys are going to hit your internet usage caps and then you'll all be bitching about it and I'll be sitting here like TOLD YA SO.

    Yeah... Jordan is a case where true Democracy would probably be bad for the US, as the current king is a fairly benevolent Pro-West dictator in practice.

    Man, I used to be able to hold it like a boss. These days? I don't like the slightest discomfort. Lucky for me on road trips DW wants to stop all the time, so I can just say "Oh, sure, I could pee too".

    One of the main activities of my day.  Drink entire Nalgene, hold in pee to point of severe discomfort, finally drag my lazy ass to the facilities, pee, mentally congratulate myself on pants being noticeably looser in waist area.
    I'm not clear on the emotions involved in this. Can I get a reaction gif?
