Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Those that travel and overnight with baby

What does LO sleep in when you stay somewhere overnight?  We have a travel lite PnP, but it's small and he has out grown it.  I don't know what to use for trips to see the grandparents. So what do you use?

We are driving.  I was looking at a regular PnP and they are about 32in long.  FTM so I don't know how long he'd be able to use it before growing out of it.  Would it be worht getting? And when he does grow out of it, will he be old enough to sleep in a bed then?  Clearly, I have no idea what I'm doing :-/

  • Can you leave a PnP at G-parents house? I'd say they can fit in it for 2 years at least. My friend just spend 2 weeks away and used a Pnp for her 2 yr old boy the whole time.

  • Just got back from a trip with LO where we stayed in a hotel and we took her PNP. It collapses and compacts pretty well. She is still sleeping in it at home though, so we literally took her bed with us!

  • We use the regular pack n' play for our trips. Since my parents live about 4 hours away it has already had lots of use. If you plan on making a few trips I would say it is worth the money.

  • I used DS's RnP.

DS used his PnP when we traveled until about 2.5 years old. After that, he slept on an air mattress (my mom put pool noodles under the fitted sheet to keep in in!). If you plan on traveling a lot, it's useful. If not, you could always rent one. There are companies in most major cities that rent baby equipment.

  • I think they can stay in a regular PnP for a few years. That's what we use for travel and at the nanny's house. On the website it says you can use until baby is 35" tall and that you shouldn't use it once baby can climb out (obvi).

  • We used a regular PNP on our trip to vegas.
  • When we travel to hotels we ask them for a bed for baby in the room. Most hotels have P n Ps or even cribs they can bring in the room.
