How long did you TTC before conceiving this baby?

For DD, we weren't trying, but weren't preventing, and were pregnant after 3 months.  I had this weird assumption (based on nothing at all) that it would take 6-12 months to conceive.  HA!

This time, it took 6 months (including a very early loss) for the viable pregnancy.

How long were you and SO trying, before you got pregnant?

Re: How long did you TTC before conceiving this baby?

  • 1 1/2 month after stopping bc 2 weeks of no protection

  • This time about 9 months, which was a long time for me as I was pregnant almost instantly with me other children. I was actually referred to a fertility specialist because I was over 35 and had been trying longer than six months. I made the app and then cancelled it two days before as I did a pregnancy test and it was positive!!!
  • About 3 days! I was seriously shocked that we got pregnant the first month that we were trying. I stopped birth control on June 16 for my period, I found out for sure I was pregnant mid-July. 8-}
  • 19 months.

I got pregnant on the first cycle with all three of my pregnancies. Just call me Fertile Myrtle.

LOL! I think that DH was disappointed that we didn't get more "practice" before we actually got a BFP!
  • We got pregnant on the first time trying. Honeymoon baby.

With DS, it was 4 months/3 cycles. This time, we got it on our first month trying. We were Not Trying Not Preventing starting from when DS was 11 months old, until he was 16 months, when I finally got my period back. Then we avoided one cycle and TTC the next.

We played baby roulette for 2 months (no protection, sex whenever) with no positives.  The third month I looked up my estimated fertile days and we made an effort to have sex during that window.  I also read up on the guaifenesin studies, and took that along with copious amounts of red raspberry leaf tea, prenatal vitamins and royal jelly (all in an effort to balance my hormones and increase my odds).  That month I became pregnant, but even so I was so shocked to see that positive pregnancy test.  I was told I had PCOS 10 years ago, have been on the pill for a decade, and am 34 - so I had researched heavily, and was ready to go down the assisted route.  I don't take it for granted for a minute that I didn't have to this time.

  • It took us 13 cycles of trying after I got off the pill. I was just about to look into testing when I got my BFP.

With DD it took me 1 year including a loss and fertility treatment to be able to get pregnant.

This time around I got pregnant the week after they took my IUD out (conception). We were in shock for a while. I was charting since January to monitor my fertility and I was ovulating too late and I have LP deficiency so this baby was totally a miracle. I think I was lucky to get implantation early at 6DPO. If not I would have probably bled the baby out.

  • Ours was 4 months..... We also looked up when 'fertile window' was & aimed for few days before then & every other day throughout! Worked for us! :o)
  • I was pregnant within a month of having my IUD taken out. We weren't trying and only had unprotected sex one time and here we are.
  • It took us about 8 months. That was after I had a miscarriage. We were just getting ready to start chlomid. With ds, I got pregnant the first month!
  • First month trying. :)
  • I stopped taking the pill in April and we found out we were pregnant in June. :)

  • A year, including one loss (we TTA that cycle).
  • 4 months after a miscarriage for this baby, for the miscarriage we had tried for a full year...so about a year and a half of total ttc for our take home baby....
  • It took 7mos after I stopped birth control but then we had a mc and them just 6 wks after that. I was so happy I didn't have to wait 7 more months. It was a really tough time for me.

  • It was 1 month after stopping bc and first time without using any form if protection. I couldn't believe it happened that quickly.

  • 4 months after stopping BC, then an MC, then another 6 months. I am in awe of the women who had to do IUI and IVF, I probably would've given up if it took more than a year. Kudos to you ladies and thank you for being an inspiration.

  • Almost 2 years with many trips to the doctor for cysts and high prolactin levels. They put me on bromocriptine and within 3 months we got our BFP.

  • 1 month but that ended in ectopic, then 4 months after surgery for ectopic, which I consider a short time for a one tube wonder! But from what I understand one side can "pick up" for the other, which is pretty cool.
  • It took 8 months for us! My DD was a surprise baby after 2 months of being married, so we didn't think it would take long to get a BFP. I had my mirena in for a while and got it out last October. We started trying in December. It was hard to keep getting negatives each month, but I knew God had a special plan.

  • We never used any form of bc after DS was born in April 2011. I BF for a year and had no cycle for that 12 months, then it took a couple more to get any sort of consistent cycle. We had been intentionally trying for 11 months (one CP at 8 months) before our BFP and now we're having twins!

  • 10 days (aka first cycle) after stopping BC. Becuase I was on BC non-stop for 15 years, I thought it would take a while. Looking back now, I should have noticed that I am 1 of 4 and DH is 1 of 8. Fertility runs in the fam.

  • The same month I stopped taking my birth control pill. Same as with DD. With DD I can still remember, I stopped taking BCP 12/10/09 & got my positive 1/12/10. About the same with this one as well.

  • 1 month with this one.
I never went back on bc after DD and once I got my period back I charted for a few months so we knew when to time it. Plus we got super crazy lucky.
