Question about diapers at night

I've noticed there at diapers for overnight use, like diapers that can last up to 12 hours without being changed. Is it okay to not change a diaper in the middle of the night? My LO sleeps through the night, and gets extremely upset if I try to change her diaper in the middle of the night.

Re: Question about diapers at night

  • With my kids I let them sleep. They usually woke up if they were uncomfortable. I wouldn't worry about it. I also have used targets up & up diapers and never had a problem. They dont say specifically "the whole 12 hour thing".

  • Oh yes. We stopped night time changes after about 1-2 months. We never do night time changes unless its poopy
  • DS wears his diaper all night. No changes and he sleeps 12-13 hours a night.

We use the pampers extra night time protection since he started sleeping on his tummy.
  • Dd usually stays in one diaper all night, bit right now we're battling a rash so I'm changing overnight. We use Huggies little smugglers and they did fine overnight.

(I'm pretty sure the rash is diarrhea related and not overnight wetness related)

This is what we do. and yes, the rash is most likely from acid poop, not the urine overnight. i've been using a little aquaphor on the worst spots and some purple desitin over it. it's been helping a lot.

TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!

  • DD usually wakes up for a feeding around 4:00am and I change her, even though she uses special overnight diapers. She has a history of yeast infections so I change her for prevention.

    Haha little smugglers, damn autocorrect.

we do not change diapers in MOTN... Just load him up with diaper cream before bed. We have tried so many brands and Burt's Bees is the n,y one that really works for us. DS also STTN most of the time, so I am NOt waking him up to change him.

Eta: we use Pampers Baby Dry and have and no leakage issues, although DSis a late roller so he still only sleeps on his back.

  • Although I wake up multiple times a night, I don't always change his diaper. I can usually feel it to see if it is full or not.
  • DD leaks if she's sleeping on her belly, which she does about half the time, and if I leave her in the same diaper all night. She still gets up for MOTN feedings so I usually just change her once, she definitely hates it but it's better than her soaking her pj's.

Whenever she decides to sleep through the night though, and I'm talking the blissful 7pm-7am thing I only dream about, I will not be waking her to change her. I'll wrap her up in an adult size depends if I have to, but I want my sleep back ;) When DD1 started sleeping 12 hours I would sometimes have to go up a size in diaper for the overnights, especially when she was getting close to a size change anyway.

  • I don't change middle of the night diapers unless it's poop.  Even though LO wakes up once overnight to eat, we still don't change him because the change really perks him up.  He doesn't suffer from diaper rash or anything so it's nbd for us.  Hell, even my toddler wakes up soaked in the morning and I certainly am not waking up to change him in the MOTN :)

  • We havent ever changed a diaper at night. In the last month she started peeing through them so we have gone to thr 12 hour pampers. Some nights they last, others they soak through her clothes but perhaps because she sleeps with her butt up in the air it all drains...
