LOVING yoga

I've done yoga off and on since early college, (and some Pilates too). Hatha, Kundalini, Bikram... Even fertility yoga! But going to my prenatal yoga classes and doing my DVD at home has been the most rewarding on yoga practice yet! My breathing is deeper, my muscles feel good, and my body is curvy and elongated. I know delivery will be better based on all this yoga! Anyone else doing yoga? Do you love it??

Re: LOVING yoga

  • Which DVD are you using? I've been thinking of buying one and maybe your recommendation will get me to move off the couch!!!

  • Ahhhh I have been saying for 4 weeks now I need to start doing prenatal yoga!
  • Curious to which DVD you use as well as I'm I'm experiencing so much back pain as we speak and think that would make me feel a lot better and help work labor as well.

  • Yep, I am loving prenatal yoga too. I prefer going to classes (vs. videos) because I like a more structured environment/class and I like meeting other pregnant women. I feel so much better when I'm able to go to class!

  • It's a Gaiam Prenatal yoga DVD with teacher Shiva Rea. 50 mins, has a woman to represent each trimester so you do things right for where your body is. Got it on amazon for cheap!
  • And as part of my birthing center fees, I get their prenatal classes 3x / week. So basically I'm practicing 5 days/ week and feeling great!!
  • I use a folded beach towel as a yoga blanket and I'm flexible enough (at this point) to not need any blocks or a strap. There's a warm up section, , standing poses, seated poses and then guided relaxation. For at home yoga, I love it!
  • Love it! And it definetly helped with labor during my first pregnancy so I'm committed this time around too.

Agree!!!! I go to a class too for the same reason. It's only once a week...3 other days I walk. But I love my once a week class !! I fall asleep in it everytime
  • I posted about a month ago that I was nervous to go to my first prenatal yoga class but I LOVE it now too. I always feel so good and limber when I leave. I am hoping that it will help with my breathing and flexibility during delivery. I love that it combines yoga practice with labor breathing and working on different poses that can help with contractions.

  • I have been wanting to order a prenatal DVD for months, and this post inspired me to do so! Should be arriving this Wednesday, thank you for posting and motivating me!

  • Good for you!!
Consider a class too if you enjoy the DVD. I like to do both, but I admittedly do get more out of classes.
  • Thanks for confirming that yoga helps!
  • @caraconner

I used to take 4 yoga classes a week, but about a year ago we purchased a new home and moved and there aren't any yoga places within 45 minutes of me. I was so upset because I absolutely loved my yoga instructor. Hopefully the videos will help me get back into practice!

45 mins away?! Oy vey, that's tough. The DVD will get you your rhythm back and your body will recognize what you're doing. My body is so much happier when yoga is a regular practice. I'll be a yogi for life now!
  • I'm starting a prenatal course tonight, and I'm so excited! I had been doing youtube videos, but I really like the camaraderie of a class environment.
