I am a planner...Christmas list

If you had to shop today for your Christmas list for everyone what would you get them?  I already purchased a seed growing kit for my son's teacher because she mentioned gardening to me at meet the teacher so I got her one that was on sale and perfect for the winter months.  I need ideas for my kiddos and my hubby - and H's bday is coming up too.  And go!  :)

For DS, not a whole lot, since he won't know the difference at this age, but I do plan on getting him lots of books, and maybe some Christmas movies. And pj's. We got a new pair of pj's every year for Christmas as kids, so I plan on continuing that tradition w/DS. DH wants to get DS a train set, but I think he's too young and he'll just try to eat it! So, books and basic toys. For DH, I usually get him at least one or two DVDs (stocking stuffers) - just oldies but goodies that are fun to own (like 80s movies, for example). I will probably get DH some clothes this year, since he doesn't really have any winter clothes that are not seriously old! What kinds of stuff does your DH like to do? Is he into sports? Any hobbies? Tickets to things always make great gifts, especially birthday (concerts, sporting events, etc).

Oh, and I'll probably do some photo related gifts for my other family members (sis, moms, etc) since they live far away and they live for new pictures! snapfish is my fave for this kind of stuff, b/c they have really good promo codes.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

  • H isn't a concert guy really but maybe a sporting event would be fun.  And my youngest one would love a train set - we listed our house on the market last week so we will hopefully be in a larger house by Christmas (fingers crossed) so a train set would be awesome!  Thanks for the idea.

And I like the idea of photo gifts - that's a good one.  I will probably do that for my family that is far and I have to ship their stuff.

  • For my 3 nieces, I made blankets using this gal's tutorial...I really like how they came out!

  • I'm so bad! DD is already 75% done! I couldn't turn down a good Fisher Price sale! :x
  • I'm saving change for gifts for the family. We kinda had an awkward moment when DH insisted that we spend $20 on each gift (ugh!) and SIL was like "what? I thought there was a $5 limit".

I don't know what to get DS because the Christmas toy commercials aren't out yet. He'll go for the loudest one that comes on during Adventure Time

    Ditto for DH.

I just want a used Wii since DS highjacked mine.
  • I'm a planner too and my christmas lists are well started but not finished.  I still don't get the girls much as they get tons from relatives and don't get the whole thing anyway.  We just had family photo's done so I'm starting to work on books and framed prints for family gifts. The older (non-iphone carrying relatives) really like these mini accordian books

I'm getting my nephews one of those cute fort building kits off etsy.

  • I do photo calendars for all the grandparents- huge hit!

DS1 is really into playing dress up at school. So I want to pick up a ton of super hero costumes after Halloween when they are all on sale. I also stocked up on bathing suit and matching towels for both boys for next summer (really, bathing suits are usually broken out in March here, lol) from the Disney store on clearance. Something to open. Little action figures, hot wheels, board games from DS1. Not sure what to get DS2.

DH is horrible to buy for, I am not sure what I am getting him either. I might start donating money as a gift for him to something that is important to him. Every year he gets so upset with the
Money we spend on Christmas and tells me he doesn't need anything so stop buying him stuff just for the sake of buying something, so I am thinking of taking his advice and not buying him stuff!

Side note- I have a Christmas list app on my phone and have already started making lists. So I am with you on the planning ahead thing!

  • DS won't be getting much. He's still too little to understand it. My nephews are 3 and 4 - the perfect age for Santa! So I'll spoil them this year.

Other than that, I've got nothing. I have no idea what to get anyone!

  • Whoa whoa whoa there's an ap for Christmas list?  What is it called???  I'm searching now!

I will do the calendar idea for my mom for sure, and love the Little People car set idea for DS #2.

I'm thinking maybe a Nintendo DS or something for my older son, but he hasn't really expressed interest in much except a nerf gun at this point.  I'm sure as the holiday season approaches he will start showing more interest.

H is next to impossible to buy for.  I did great last year and got him a bose stereo system and some cd's to go with it but he doesn't need anything this year.  And with his birthday coming up too I need to figure something out.  I might just do an Amazon gift card so he can get whatever he wants.

  • DD's birthday is 12/24 so I try to shop ahead of time.  She'll be 3 this year so we are making her a big girl room.  I've got most everything for her birthday and Christmas except a twin size mattress and boxspring.  SIL manages a furniture store so we will be going in this month to pick it out and prepay for it before December.  I got her a hello kitty toothbrush, bracelet, legos, clothes, tball set, a those plastic skates that go over your shoes.  My two nieces and two neohews are also done - a softball bag for older niece, minnie mouse necklace, sticker book, flashcards.  There were some awesome toy sales at Target these last few months that I couldn't pass up on. My nephews are each getting a Spiderman dry erase board (on sale for $.50) and some sort of kinect thing to build.  Over the weekend DH saw a book at Costco he's interested in so I'm going to go back this weekend and pick it up for him.  He also wants a pair of boots, and he's into brewing his own beer so some accessories for that as well.  His stocking stuffers will include a fishing license, tickets to supercross (do this every year), gift cards, lottery tickets, candy...  One SIL wants nice knives, another SIL and my Step-mom will be getting scarfs, brother - round of golf, another brother and SIL will get a membership for the zoo.  That's all I can think of right now.
