Post Epidural Itch?

I delivered 3 weeks ago and my skin has been itchy ever since, particularly in the areas that were numb from the epidural (and especially in the areas I was laying on, i.e. my butt and the back of my legs). I saw on some places online that this is rare but can happen to some women. When I asked my doctor about it she had never heard of it. She recommended a moisture rich lotion and benedryl. Have any other new moms out there experienced the post epidural itch that has lasted this long post delivery? If so, any recommendations for how to sooth the itch (and make it go away!).
