Would You Do a C Section A 2nd time?

Good Morning I'm on baby #2 and with my 1st born I had to get a C Section because he was to big would you do 2nd C Section since you've had the experience and you know what to expect or would you try VBAC???

I tried for a VBAC and failed due to spiking a fever in labor. I am not going to attempt it with this one so I'll be having my third section next month.

Did you labor at all with your first? Was he too big and got stuck or did your doctor tell you he was big and went for a scheduled section?

Nope. My section was bad enough the first time that I'm done having kids. We may try to adopt in a couple if years if we decide we want another.

Nope I wouldn't choose a c/s. I didn't have a horrible experience or anything (mine was planned due to positioning etc) and my recovery hasn't had any major setbacks. I just would rather have the long labor and easy recovery that came with vaginal delivery (my 1st pregnancy) than the fast surgery and long recovery.

I have been researching vbac options just in case I have another child.  I know what to expect from a c-section and that knowledge makes me scared to death to undergo another one even though my surgery and recovery were complication free.

I recovered well from mine so i would do it again.

Did a second and will be doing a third. May even consider a fourth if my doctor says ok. My fear of the unknown is much worse then my fear of another c section. Second was way easier than the first and the first was ok for me.

I had my first due to her size. Ginormous heads run in DH's family so it's likely the next will be a section too. I think knowing what to expect makes the decision easier when the time (hopefully) comes around again.

I would have a second c/s. recovery hasn't been that bad.

I'm having another one on Friday this week. No issue last time, guessing it will be the same this time. It doesn't matter how they come out, as long as they come out healthy and safe I say

I think my c/s went really well and my recovery was good, all things considered, but I would never choose to do one again.

I considered a VBAC for baby #2, but decided on doing another c/s because I felt that was the right decision for me at the time.  I don't regret that decision.  Sure sometimes I am curious about what it would have been like to have a vaginal birth, but that is all it has been, curiosity.

I honestly have no idea. I would love to have a VBAC, to have the experience, and hopefully a shorter recovery, but I cringe at that the thought of another long, exhausting labor ending in another c/s anyway. I'm torn.

My first was a vaginal delivery, 100% perfect by the book.  My twins were delivered via c/s due to breech presentation (again, 100%), and my last pg was a RCS (carried to 41w, baby didn't want to come out, OB didn't feel comfortable with him staying in any longer).  I was hoping for a VBAC but that wasn't in the cards.  I've not had any complications with any of my deliveries but I would've loved to have had a vaginal delivery for all.  The recovery from my vaginal delivery was SO much easier, sure sex was scary as well as using the bathroom for a while, but everything else was pretty darn easy.  I don't judge anyone just "wanting" a c/s for whatever reason (heck, they're the ones that are going to go through it), but I don't understand ever "opting" for a c/s when it's avoidable.  After my last delivery my OB said he won't agree to a VBA2'C but I'll be asking again because things in the medical world are constantly changing.

Absolutely not. I am currently recovering from my first and although I haven't had complications, I am in a lot of pain.

My First pregnancy went to 41 weeks had to be induced labored for 18 hrs straight with nothing but the pitocin finally asked for an epidural from there my body would go past 4 cm and went down to a 1 and my sons heart rate started to drop so in the end opted for the c-section he was 9lbs 7oz and 221/2 inches long. I wanted a natural birth but it doesn't always happen. Also my Dr. at the time was pushing for a c-section at 6 months change Drs if you have that Dr found out she had a 98% for c-section after I had my son. My second son went to a new Drs office I wanted to do a vback but in the end he was too large he was taken out at 38 weeks by c-section I had preclamisa he was 10lbs 10oz and  19 inches long. I healed a lot faster with the c-section the second time then the first going through labor and a c-section Is the worst I still had pain when I walked at six moths with the first. After my second c-section I was fully healed by 2 weeks. Now I'm pregnant with my 3 baby and I'm just planing on having the c-section this one will be a surprise birth were not finding out the gender till then its so exciting

Definitely!  It was a little bit of a scary experience due to being an emergency and I had to be put under, but I think my recovery wasn't that bad.  I've read posts about vaginal deliveries, and they sound like recovery can take some time as well as there being some downstairs destruction.  I feel lucky to have missed out on that.

Not only did I choose to have a csection with #2, I chose to do it a 3rd time. It wasn't bad with either of the 2 I chose.

I debated on whether or not to try for a VBAC or schedule the CS. I opted for a RCS and I couldn't have been happier.  My second CS was a complete breeze and all my concerns from the first time weren't even an issue.

I'd do a csection again. My recovery, and the whole process wasn't bad at all.

One RCS and VBAC have the same amount of risk, though the risks themselves are different.

I won't have another CS if I can help it. Had a VBAC with my second, and it was a much better birth overall (my CS was unplanned after pushing for many hours, so I was very exhausted and stressed out).

I'm hoping to have a VBAC with my second if at all possible. Although the C-section itself was a breeze, the recovery was rough!

I had a c-section with my second due to a 4th degree tear and reconstructive surgery with my first. My c-section was a walk in the park compared to my vaginal delivery and I will be choosing a RCS this time.

My son was breech so I plan on trying vbac for the next one. I do NOT want another c-section!

I had a planned 2nd section after my failure to progress/subsequent section with my 1st. I went into the operating room completely dreading my recovery since my first was a hard one. It was a breeze! (Chalk it up to a little education, prior experience, and willingness to follow Dr's orders regarding pain management and rest.) I would definitely choose another C-Section. P.S., both of my children were larger than the average 7.5 lbs...Dr said my FTP was absolutely my body's way of saying, "No way!"

I told my OB at my first appointment with my DS that there was no way I wanted to try and deliver naturally. My first c-section was after a 14 hour failed induction. Unlike PP, I was up moving around much better than the vaginal deliveries in my hospital. I was in the shower within a couple of hours, and walking the halls unassisted the next day. I had two super easy sections and recoveries. You couldn't pay me enough to go through a vaginal delivery.

With my first I had an emergency section and I tried for a VBAC with my 2nd, but at 41w 3 days I still wasn't in labor so I had a repeat c. It wasn't bad at all compared to the emergency one. We plan to have 4 kids and my OB has no issues with me having 2-3 more. If I had the option I would certainly try for a vaginal birth though.

DD was a scheduled c-section due to being breech.  We haven't decided if we're having a second child or not but I would definitely consider having another c-section.  I've read a lot about VBACs and found out that something like 40% (I can't remember the exact figure) end up in emergency c-sections.  I would almost have the relaxed atmosphere of a planned section than an emergency one after hours of labor, which I could only imagine would be exhausting and a little hectic.  Part of me knows that I would miss out on a unique experience but it's a personal choice.

I'm really, really torn. I don't care anything about the "experience" of having a vaginal birth, but I would like to avoid the difficult recovery...especially having 2u2.

However, it also would be really nice to know when this LO was coming. Also, I would rather have to heal on my stomach than end up with tears and stitches down there. I have a big fear of that!

We got to pick our daughter's due date and have a good deal of control over something that most mommys have no control over.  That was very very nice.  I also agree with the tears and such down there.  There is something to say about the fear of the unknown.  I know what my recovery was like for a c-section (mine was actually not bad...by the time I can home 4 days later, I felt good, not great but good) but have no idea what to expect with a vaginal birth!

I had an urgent CS with dd. she was breech. And early, so we never discussed delivery options at the dr. I would do a RCS for a second child. I had a fairly easy recovery, but dd was in the nicu for 12 days so I was able to rest at home when I wasn't in the hospital with her

If you asked me the first few days after my cs I would say, hell no! But honestly after the first week, I would say I would do it again. My stomach is flatter than it was after my vaginal births, my lady bits aren't broken, no bleeding, and I can't hardly see my incision. The downside is cant lift my three year old, can't drive, ext.

I did have a C for my second, and I will again for my third. I've had good C-section experiences with  no complications from surgery or during recovery.  Yes, there is definitely pain, but it can be managed. It's really a no-brainer to me personally.

Had a section for my first (breech).  Now considering what to do for #2...eligible so far for a VBAC, but am worried about having a section after a long labour anyway, or having terrible tears from a vaginal birth.  

Recovery from the section was OK until a nasty incisional infection 10 days post.  Would rather skip that bit.
