trigger injection question

I was told tonight that  the HCG injection needs to be done at a specific time (could be middle of the night, at work, etc.).
For those of you who have been down this road already- what have you done if it falls during your work hours? Do you do it yourself?
My husband travels for work and wont be here for almost the whole month.  I have a friend who will give me my injections.  but I do not know what to do about this one!!

Is it possible to go to the RE office and let them do it? I have heard of some girls on here being able to do it themselves, but I think, personally, I would have to have someone else do it.

The hcg shot is 36 hours before retrieval so that is typically between 6pm - 4am if your RE does them that late. I know mine only does them between 6 and 10 am. If you work nights you will know ahead of time and have some idea in advance to plan and maybe have a friend meet you at work or stay over.
    Good luck

Since my trigger was 35.5 hours before my retrieval, I had to trigger at 1:00am. My clinic does ER during the day, so triggers are usually in the evening or middle of the night.

Maybe a friend could stay over, instead of you having to go in the middle of the night!  Good luck! :)

I felt the same way, thought that there was no way that I would be able to give myself the shot. However, when the time came and I had to do it, because DH was at work, I was able to give myself the shot & realized it was not as bad as I had built it up to be. Good luck! You can do it! :)

If the shot is sub-q (in the belly) it really is easy. You could do it yourself. IM shots are more tricky but those can be done by yourself as well. You can do it!

I think my hcg was sub q. I have been doing my stomach shots this cycle and its not so bad... and might I add that I was terrified of needles. If you know you cant do it, perhaps you can give your friend a heads up and plan accordingly. :) good luck.

putyou can do the tigger also in your upper outer thigh as well (where saddlebags-at least mine-are) it hurts less and seems to bruise less for me. just do it quickly, shouldn't be a prob. squeeze the "fat" and houold needle like a dart and put in as quickly as possible and push plunger quickly. You prob wont feel a thing. I give myself the IM shots-POI although no fun, its actually easier for me to do it mentally than to not know the exact moment needle is coming when someone else does it. I think I feel better because I have control over the situation. GL!

I've never done a trigger shot after 10pm (maaaaybe 11) with either of my REs. And if it comes down to it, you might just have to give it to yourself. I never thought I'd be able to do it either but IF forces us down many paths we might not have otherwise expected.
