How are your shins? How is your marathon training going?
You are my hero! I became a runner in 2011 before getting pregnant with DD in December of '11. I ran until I was 6 weeks pregnant and really haven't run that much so far this year - a handful of times. I need to get back to it but find it so hard to find the time with two kids. How do you find the time? I know you have a long work commute too so you are truly my hero!
Re: Cheenomae!
So it turns out it's going terribly. I tore my MCL on my right knee just a couple days after I posted my shin splint question. So I've had a break from running for about 8 or so days and the worst part is that my shins STILL hurt. So frustrating. I go back to the orthopedic surgeon a week from this Wednesday for a second MRI to figure out if the tear is healing itself of if I'll have to have surgery. The MCL has a huge blood supply so the hope is that it repairs itself, which commonly it does.
The good news is that I've felt OK in the knee the last day or so so I believe the tear is repairing itself. Last night I got a huge motivation to get out and get running again so I'm hoping to be able to start in the next two weeks, provided my MCL heals without surgery.
I agree with you on the time constraints. Honestly, I can't really figure out when a good time is. I get home around 6 - 6:15 pm and my DH doesn't get home until 6:45 - 7:00 pm. We eat dinner right away and then I put DS to bed around 8. I've just been running right after that around the area with a little fanny pack and pepper spray...you know, in case!
It's sad though because I miss out on that time with DD while her and DH get the quality time together. I wish I could just wake up at 5 am and do a quick run, but I can't see to do it!
If you decide to get back to running you should let me know. I'd LOVE to have someone to be accountable to and share motivation with!! Running until you're 6 weeks pregnant is a huge accomplishment, in my opinion. I say you're doing great...even if you're on a little break.
Sorry that got so long!
I'm not a morning person either, at all. I also would rather have the quality time with DH after the kids go to bed or even more time with DD before she goes to bed. I'd also rather sit on the couch and watch all the shows piling up on my DVR. It's very annoying.
I hear ya with the head/mood thing. It just takes time I think and it sounds like you have a lot of things that are really adding to your stress, ie. your freaking job. I feel so bad!! I always hear the exercise can help with the mood and stress, but I've yet to see it. It's not really a stress reliever for me...
