I had the My Brest Friend and it was essential the first couple of months of nursing. It has a strap that keeps it secured around your waist, plus a little pocket on the side for essentials. I didn't need it very long, but I really liked it.
Never used a mambo, but I did use a boppy and HATED it. It was flimsy and didnt provide great support for the baby. I had my hubby run out and get a breast friend. It was a life saver and I took it everywhere in the earlier stages. I also loved the Balboa BF'ing pillow once I got the hang of BF'ing. I was smaller and just a firm wedge to comfortably feed DS.
I have the boppy nursing pillow, the one with the strap. I love it. The strap is crucial. I also have another boppy that does not have he strap and I don't use it

Haven't tried the mambo but I have a boppy that I hate and have to prop up with other pillows. I did borrow my sisters my breast friend while visiting family and LOVED it!
