Soy formula for boys

My pediatrician recommended switching my son to a lactose free formulas for one week to help his diarrhea that he's had for 6 days as he said that lactose can make the diarrhea worse.. You hear all this bad stuff about soy formula for boys but I'm wondering if anyone has given their sons soy formula and if the had any input on this and what you think about the negative stuff that is said about baby boys and soy formula

My son had a stomach bug with vomiting only for a week and had lost a lot of weight, my pediatrician recommended starting back with Enfamil ProSobee after he was able to keep down Pedialyte for 2+hours, but not use it any longer than a week. I used it 100% for three days, then 60/40, 50/50, 40/60 etc. mixed with his normal Enfamil for a day each to get him used to his normal formula- my pediatrician didn't give any specifics other than he doesn't like to give soy formula unless it's absolutely necessary.

I will say, that my OB wanted me to pretty much cut out my soy intake during pregnancy, not sure if that's related or not.
