Cloth Diapering

Prepping Article

https://clothdiapertesting.com/prepping-testing/

I find this article fascinating as I'm sitting here, waiting for my fourth wash cycle to complete so I can consider my new bamboo diapers to be fully prepped.

Sorry not clicky. I'm mobile today. Long story short, a test showed there is virtually no benefit to washing and drying more than once to prep bamboo and no negative effect on the absorbency of microfiber from prepping bamboo and microfiber together. It's like everything I've ever been told is a lie!

  • Hmmm...someone on this board back when I was first starting out with CDs told me something along the lines of ...they thought people made CD'ing way more complicated than it really needed to be...I scoffed at the time...but the longer I CD, the more I agree.  Prepping, wash routines, when to strip, what to buy.  (How many times have you heard someone who is a pocket/AIO user say they tried prefolds or flats on a whim and wishes they had started their stash with that instead?)

That's really refreshing to hear. I keep psyching myself out as I read people's posts about stripping, schedules, etc., and find myself wondering if I really haven't put enough thought into some sort of complicated CD strategy -- but then I look at my stash and think, well, probably best just to wait until the baby shows up, strap some of these suckers on, and prepare to learn through trial and error!

I think this all the time (about myself). I have spent a lot of time searching for the right soap or making sure I prep things perfectly. I am one of those that wishes I would have started with prefolds and covers. Although, lately I have been loving my AIO's and pockets more and more. I think it just varies based on what fits right at the time and what seems easiest. I'm sure by next month I'll be on to something new ;-)
