So I just have to vent, because if I don't I might explode.
We're getting a new car today (yay!). And DH tells me that his license expired last week. So unbeknownst to me, he's been driving around without a license in the only car we own for a week. It's a good thing he didn't have an accident, as obviously nothing would be covered.
Where I live we have a graduated licensing system. DH only has a G2, which means that he had one more road test to do before he got his full license. If you're prompt on doing all your tests, it takes about 2 years to get a full license in Ontario, he's had this license and not finished it for 5 years (and this is the SECOND time his license has expired after he didn't finish it the first time around).
With a G2, you have a little while after the card expires to go do your exit test. He let it expire beyond that window, so now he has to go do the written test over, then book an appointment to do the first road test, pass that, and book another appointment to do the exit road test. Fortunately he doesn't have to wait a year in between like when you first start out, but getting the appointments is not going to be immediate.
Sooooo.... I told DH that this is his problem. I can't drive him to work and home every day, I have to work too, and I'm not subjecting DD to being in the car all the time (as he works far enough from where we live), and waking her up early etc.. So I told him he'll have to make other arrangements... take the bus which is really the only other option.
He's PISSED AT ME and I just can't feel bad for him at all. He's been procrastinating on absolutely everything lately, and this is just the last straw for me. It's his own friggin problem that he let his license expire again, and I am not letting him drive our car without the appropriate license to do so. If he does the written today, he'll get his G1, which means that he can only drive the car with an experienced driver in the car with him... not alone. That is a HUGE inconvenience and I just told him that this time around, he has to learn.
This whole situation is common for him. He does sh*t like this all the time, and I don't think I need to parent him and a toddler, so I'm being a huge bitch this time, and I'm not helping him at all. You want to let your license expire, then you take the bus.
What annoys me the most though is that he's mad at me because I won't let him drive.... Ummm.... hello???? No license = no insurance!! We're getting a new car! He doesn't have a right to be mad at me IMO, this is his problem.

First of all, yeah, he let it expire, why should you be inconvenienced(with a toddler)? Let him deal with it.
Second of all, holy crap, Canada has some crazy DL requirements!
