Anyone else with a screamer to sleep? Ugh!!

I'm losing all the joy I used to have for the "putting to bed" process with my 20 month old. Despite how easy he used to be going to bed after reading a few books, quietly, calmly, agreeable to sleep, now he fights me every step of the way and ends up screaming for about 5 minutes in his crib before finally letting himself sleep. I hate it! i just don't get why he's so resistent and always has to scream! its driving me batty!! I'm pretty sure he's tired-- it's the end of his day-- it's always about 5 hours after he wakes from his afternoon nap-- and I don't rush reading the books. Maybe I've let him control too much as it used to be three books and lately he wants to read 4,5,6,7. I've even experimented trying to keep on reading until he's truly satisfied-- but that time he just snuggled up into me and closed his eyes to sleep in my arms. We like to put him in his crib tired, but awake. The worst of it is our babysitter says when she puts him to bed at night (sometimes we get home after he's asleep) she has no problem. He almost never cries. How is that fair?! I'm home with him full days, 5 days a week. What can I do?!! Help! It's driving me nuts!! I thought we were beyond this!

  • The past 3 night DD has done this, but its more like 20 minutes and she wakes up throughout the night and cries. She used to sleep great, I have no idea what's going on! She is fine during the day so I don't think it's teeth. It's no fun for sure!
