Dads & Dads-to-be

Whoa....I'm back.

Dads!
Sup, I've been scrolling through and I see some new faces (names) and some oldies but goodies. Sorry it's been a while since I've been to the board and I really feel it. WTH is up with the change to the look!?!?! I don't hate it, but I'm confused and miss the left scroll down option, it made it super easy to lurk on the month category boards...or to read the mean posts on the Baby Shower board. If you want to see the claws come out, visit that board. Those chicks are rough.

But, fellas it's good to be home and because I'm an attention whore I'll catch you up on what's happening. AND if you want, let me know what's happening with you and your kid(s)!

My little guy is 10 1/2 months on Monday! The kid started crawling at 7 months and starting walking two weeks ago! It's awesome, but trying to keep him from killing himself or the dog is now our full time job. In a room with toys, balls and a hundred baby items he will go straight for the electrical outlet and try to unplug his nightlight. WTH!

I started a new job in April, hence the absence, and it's okay. More work, more responsibility, kind of more pay (but not really) and a higher title...which was all I really wanted. Still marketing movies.

My wife and I sold our town home last month. Southern California is a beast, definitely a seller's market. We put it on the market and 5 days later got 6 offers. We were able to list it and close in 19 days! We where crazy worried about finding a house so when we did we went big and luckily beat out 5 offers on the one we wanted. Going to own a backyard soon! Already checking out barbecue grills and I ordered a kiddie pool for my kid! I'm so excited! RIGHT NOW we are living with my MIL, which is okay. She has been traveling a lot, so that helps, but 3 adults, 1 walking 10 month old and 3 dogs is a lot in a 2 bedroom house that isn't baby proof. Hopefully we will close next week. Fingers crossed.

A'ight fellas, catch me up!

Re: Whoa....I'm back.

  • What is baby proofing?  Is that when you put rubber bands on the doors that you don't want your son to get into?  Our friends who live in a Ranch with a finished basement are shocked that we don't have gates on our stairs.  Our son does better at 26 months then their almost 4 year old daughter.

  • Welcome back!

DW is almost 35 weeks so we are fast approaching D-Day. Nursery is ready so we are pretty much in a holding pattern until the little guy decides to make his appearance.

Congrats on the new house and job! That is fantastic news.

The Bump is the same really. It's a lot easier to post pictures and gifs which is nice for most things, especially BBB Fridays. Speaking of which, get over there!

  • I wish we could get by w/o babyproofing, but my kid only wants to play with items that are dangerous. If there are stairs, he wants to go down....an outlet, he wants to stick his fingers inside AND everything goes in his mouth. We caught him chewing one of the leather insert packets that come in brief cases and shoes. Holy crap, it says harmful if swallowed on the paper! Along with making money to feed him and keep a roof over his head I also have to keep that kid alive. It's a full time gig, but I guess I'll do it.

  • We do have outlet covers on our outlets.  As for stairs, we found it best to keep an eye on our son until we were comfortable with how he could manage the stairs.  At 18 months he was better on the stairs then our friend's three year old.

As for putting things into their mouth, it takes a while before they get over that stage, for boys it is around 90.
