Anniversary Dilemma UPDATE

Hi all.  So I posted recently about having a work conference right in the middle of the anniversary when we lost Ava.  Thanks again for all of your feedback and advice.  So yesterday I made the decision that I am not going to attend.  I talked this over with my husband and therapist and we are all in agreement that this is the right decision.  My next step was having to tell my boss.  So my boss calls me this morning to tell me that I've been invited to our company's National Women's Summit in Dallas, TX that happens to be on the same dates as our NE regional meeting.  He starts going on about how great this will be for me, the exposure I will get, how it's an honor to get invited and he was so excited to give me the news that I got invited.  This made it all the more harder to tell him that I planned to take those dates off because it's the one year anniversary of the loss of my daughter....but I did it.  I told him and I feel a MILLION times better.  I explained that I was anxious about telling him and didn't want something personal to impact my career progress, but that I wouldn't do anyone any good if I am present but not in the right frame of mind.  He was more than understanding.  Told me not to worry at all, and he will keep my name in to go the following year.  Hopefully the dates won't coincide next year!  Just wanted to tell you guys that I made my decision and feel like a load has been lifted.  I can now prepare to properly grieve the anniversary with my husband and family, close to home.  ((HUGS)) to all.
