CVP (Circumvallate Placenta)

I am pregnant with my second and was diagnosed with a circumvallate placenta a week ago. It is rare and only common in 1% of women. Last week I had both my 20 wk u/s and 2 days later my 20 wk OB appt. At my OB appt I saw a midwife because my DR is out for a couple weeks. The midwife told me I have it but said she has never had anyone have it so really could not explain too much about it besides that my placenta is folding in. I went home and googled and found very little info besides the risks. Anyway, when I was at the appt they told me that the MGM would contact me and I would be seen within the next couple weeks to discuss it with him/her. I called Monday morning after waiting to hear from someone for 3 work days. No one had record of me needing to see the specialist and said they would call me back. When they did they said my appt is for Sept 9. I told the receptionist that 6 weeks is way too long to wait to find out what is going on with me and she said that thats the time the specialist gave her and that she has no control over it because the DR makes her own schedule. So for anyone who has had this (hopefully there is someone) how long did you have to wait to see the MGM? What should I do to push it and get an earlier appt? I am just worried and want to be informed!

I'd push to have an earlier appointment, but I have crazy anxiety and I know that's not great for baby.  I'd call your OB and have them press MFM for an earlier appt.

I live overseas so it is Tuesday morning here. My OB is out right now so I just called the nurse's line hoping someone is willing to help me out. When they told me about it last week I was convincing myself not to worry too much because I'd find out more about it within a couple weeks but after yesterday(Monday) I have developed a bad anxiety about it. Sick to my stomach and couldn't sleep last night

If you're sick with anxiety, I think calling is the best idea. No need to go through that.

I know this is a late response but I just introed yesterday with CVP. My doctor considered it something on the higher side of importance and I had an appointment yesterday (1 week from the original U/S.) I go back in 4 weeks to check on it again then I will have a weekly check in on the baby's well being and every 4 weeks they will check on the growth of LO.

The only reason that I could see them not giving you an earlier appointment is that the doctor told me there is nothing that can be done. Having a CVP is nothing that you did nor can it be prevented or fixed in any way. They did however tell me that sometimes they can correct themselves in the 3rd tri, though I'm not sure how far along you are.

I've searched this board today hoping to find someone with CVP who can share in experiences and you were the first I came upon. Thanks for sharing.
