Haven't seen this yet today and thought I'd get it going. For the newbs, this is Flame Free Friday Confessions, although it's rarely flame free - we're tricky like that
My dog had some major stomach issues yesterday to the point he licked his butt until blood was coming out -not from the inside- He has done this before so I switched his diet to boiled rice and browned turkey.
This is a 2 part FFFC.
1. I did not run him to the vet like I have in the past.
2. I may have put a baby diaper on him and duct taped the waist to make him stop licking it.
I a horrible dog mom today....

First, the mental image of #2 made me LOL, especially the duct tape part!
I think if you've taken him to the vet before and know what you should be doing for him and you're doing it, that's fine - unless you know he legitimately needs to see the vet. You're not a bad dog mom!
I think elective c-sections are ridiculous. I think it is a selfish decision and see no point in having one unless it is deemed medically necessary for the safety of the mom and baby. It is major surgery. Most of the time, I feel it is done for vain reasons.
Recently had a friend on FB posting about doing one. I kept my opinion to myself.

Aww poor pup. I hope he's feeling better soon! We've had to take our old dog to the vet for an irritated butt and all they did was tell us to buy him so tighty whities. I think you're fine

True about the scar, but I'm more thinking of the "too posh to push" mindset, or not wanting your vaginal to be mangled, which from all reports I've heard from other women, it goes back to normal, but some think it will just be completely ruined after a vaginal delivery.

Interesting fact: In Russia a C-Section is the preferred method of birth because doctors rush through vaginal delivery and often use forceps to pry the baby out before it is ready causing a lot of injuries.
ETA: I'm not advocating for either way (I agree about it being unnecessary to have an elective one in the US)

My H and I currently use our two spare bedrooms as "catch-alls." Those rooms don't get used for anything, so when we are cleaning the rest of the house, we tend to toss things in there and just shut the doors. We're in the process of refinancing and are expecting a call from an appraiser any day now to schedule a time to come and appraise the house. Because of that, we've kicked our asses into high gear with cleaning those rooms and our basement (another disaster). Today is garbage day and we put out 4 big bags of garbage (with two kitchen bags in each) and 3 bins of recycling. The worst part is that the basement is still a mess, so we'll probably have just as much to put out next week. I feel like a hoarder.

I had major abdominal surgery when I was 14 and the incredibly long, painful recovery makes me so scared of having a c-section. I have no idea how women take care of newborns while in that pain.
Also, I totally thought most hospitals had gotten over the elective c-section fad when basically EVERY study showed it was basically the worst idea ever. I had no idea you could still get one.

I was up walking around the same day I had my Csec. I stopped taking my pain meds a day after I got home and recovered fairly quickly and have minimal scarring, I has a good experience. I however had planned a medfree natural delivery. I would not have just opted to have major surgery for the hell of it that's for sure. For #2 I would try a VBAC but I am not a candidate for it, because the way my ute was cut during my Csec, I had 2 incisions, which I guess puts me at higher risk for ute rupture. At least that's what I was told.

Not all elective c-sections are done because a mom doesn't feel like giving birth vaginally. Do you have a back bad? Have you had back surgery? Do you have any idea the kind of stress birth puts on a woman's spine?
There are always special cases. That's why I said "most", and I said it is different when it comes to the safety and health of the mother or baby.

I think its hard to make a blanket statement like that. Unless you know someones reason for choosing one its really not fair to make a judgment. There may be underlying issues that you are not aware of.

I totally agree with you. Before I got pregnant with #1 I wanted to do an elective C-section and then found out that the US is the only country who does more than like 10%. Other countries have more balls and aren't just in it for the money. ( in my own words reference The Business of Being Born)
