2 years old and hair doesn't grow...normal?

I may need to re-post this when more people are on, bc I'm thinking no one will answer me now, but I'm starting to wonder if this is normal.

The boys were 2 in September, and it seems like Dillon's hair just doesn't grow...(see sig pic). It's super short in the front and it literally does not get longer. The back grows a tiny bit, but barely, the top, same...and the front...not at all.

Does anyone else have a 2 year old who has never needed a haircut (boy) and barely has any hair? I have no idea if this is normal or not....(I assumed it would grow at some point, but he really is getting kind of old now, it seems)

Ryan has needed haircuts for the past year+.

  • my son also doesn't have much hair at 2. he just got his 2nd haircut last week. but it does seem to come in more each time i get it cut...which is what his haircutter said. have you tried that to see if it come in more?

I just think it takes a while for some kids.

  • Everyone has a different max length for their hair. ?If you took 100 people and never let them cut their hair, ever, each person's would stop at a diff length and just not get longer. ?Fuller and thicker, but not longer. ?

Maybe he just doesn't grow a ton of hair. ??

  • I haven't tried cutting it because there is not much to cut. I could maybe cut a tiny bit in the back, but the front is like crazy short (on his forehead)....like prob not even a half an inch long). So strange. What if it is like that "forever"?....lol.

Kori...that is interesting about people's hair...but doesn't surprise me bc I don't think my hair would ever grow down to my butt like some people's do!

  • DS will be 3 in February and still hasn't had his first haircut.  He has a few wisps that are longer, but his hair has been very slow to grow.
  • I have a 2 1/2 year old girl, but seriously, if she was a boy it still wouldn't need to be cut.  My 5 month old has longer hair.  She has total baby hair.  Sometimes I wonder if she will ever get more.

  • I'm answering you now at 7 in the morning so I don't even think you'll see this post but I'll answer anyway.  My dd just turned 3 and her hair doesn't grow much at all.  She also has lost hair in spots and we found out last year that she has alopecia aerata.  It is an autoimmune condition that is in the hair follicles.  She did a med like Rogaine to fill in the spots that fell out but now we are unable to wear any barrettes, ponies or anything in her hair because even when wearing a pony losely for one day, the hair starts falling out again.  Right now her hair is chin length and pretty shiny and soft (so much different from last year when she had a dull kind of look).  But it doesn't grow past her chin.  She's in schools with girls her age who have hair to the middle of her back and she wants to wear the hair stuff like them.  BTW, dd also has a strawberry on her forehead :)
  • I can't see your sig at work, but my 2 yr old daughter hasn't needed a haircut. Her hair is growing, but it's very slow. I wouldn't worry about it - they all get hair at different rates. Smile
