For those who work and pump. I have a little while to go, but I'm
already struggling to keep up and I seem to be losing on average about
half an ounce a week right now (and I've tried everything but reglan).
Did you keep pumping after a year or how long did you keep pumping with your child during work days?
Did you give some whole milk/water for while you are at work?
How many ounces of breastmilk do you send to daycare (or leave with whomever watches child) after a year?
Thanks very much!
Re: Any Extended BFers here
ditto....I weaned from the pump at 1 year and she got cows milk during the day and nursed when I was with her. My supply was fine for the 2-3x a day we did nurse. We gradually weaned around 14.5 months, and then I got pg again shortly after and dried right up.
I stopped pumping when DD turned 1. I did keep nursing her on my lunch hour until about 17 months. I only stopped because it didn't work well with her schedule in the toddler room.
I actually don't know how much whole milk DD was offered at daycare. I told them they could give it to her on the same schedule as the other kids, but I never bothered to figure out how much that was. DD was nursing throughout the night at that point besides morning, after work, and before bed, so I wasn't worried about the amount of milk she was getting. We didn't even buy whole milk at home unless I was going to be out of town or something. I figured if it's just one serving a day, our 1% would be just fine.
I did not send any breastmilk to daycare after about 13 months. I saved my freezer stash so DH would have some to give her when I took a week long cruise with the girls. (I did pump 2-3x a day on the cruise.)
I finally night weaned DD around 26 months. I wanted to make sure we made it to 2 years, and night nursing helped keep my supply up. We're now nursing 2-3x a day at 30 months.

I stopped pumping just before her birthday. If she wouldn't have taken to cow's milk I could have started up again, but I was more than ready to stop pumping.
By her birthday, she was only drinking 6-10 ounces of EBM at daycare (she'd drink most of her morning bottle but little or none of her second bottle). She was eating two snacks and lunch at daycare with water to drink.
Once she had drunk some cow's milk at home, her teachers were asked to give her cow's milk with snacks and lunch, and not give her a bottle unless she really needed it. (We sent in a back-up or two for a week.) She never took another bottle at daycare and I didn't pump anymore.
I continued to let DD nurse on demand whenever we were together. She's self-weaned down to one session a day, but we're still going at 22 months.
FWIW, when I was having trouble keeping up, I would bring the pump home on weekends and evenings for an extra session.
I stopped pumping at 11 months. I had 200+ oz in the freezer at the time, so the plan was to continue sending breastmilk, while transitioning her to cow's milk.
I started rationing out my breastmilk when I stopped pumping. She was down to about 10 oz/day at that point. I started sending only 8 oz/day at right around 11 months, and then down to 4 oz/day around her birthday. My freezer stash ran out a few weeks after her birthday.
Unfortunately, at that point, she STILL wasn't on cow's milk, so we had a 1-2 month period where she only drank water during the day. We finally figured out that she likes vanilla soymilk. We now send 4 oz of that with her during the day.

we just hit 1 year, so I have the least experience out of the pp. But here goes. I am still pumping 2x a day, but DD seems to be increasing in her nursing at home for some reason. She will nurse 1-2x after daycare, 2x at night, and 1x in the morning.
We are starting the transition to soymilk (allergic to cow's milk) right now. I sent her to daycare with two 4-oz sippys (3oz Bm and 1oz soymilk). She drank the first, ignored the second. I tried again with the same ratio today. also send her with a 4oz sippy of water.
As soon as she is comfortable on the soymilk, then I will stop pumping at work (can't wait!).
I struggled with my supply a few times, and I just had to supplement. DD has probably had about 200oz of formula but thousands of BM. I just kept pumping 3x a day during those times.
