Do you dilute your toddler's apple juice?

DD#1 really only started taking in decent amounts of apple juice the last few months. Before that she only wanted water w/ her meals and w/ snacks etc.  Each day she drinks about 3-4ounces of apple juice in total which doesn't seem like very much but she has been having a diarrhea diaper daily which seems to coincide with the increased juice.  I remember having to dilute children's apple juice for that same reason when I babysat years ago but I don't think I've ever read that it's a common problem...

  • I do.  I didn't even give her juice, but she goes to daycare one day a week, and they told me that I had to send it.  (I sent two waters and one milk).  If I didn't, they had to give her some that they kept on hand there.  Well, I knew they probably gave straight juice, so now I buy Juicy Juice, put 3-4 oz in a cup, and fill the rest with water.  DH will occ try to sneak in a whole glass with no water, and she actually doesn't like it straight.

  • that should have said I sent two milks and one water.  but now I send one milk for lunch and two juice/water mixes.  But she only drinks one, b/c she's never there for morning snack.
  • I dilute any juice he gets. His juice is more water with a splash of juice for flavor.
  • I used to dilute it, but DH always forgot to and same with his grandparents... so now I usually don't ... sometimes I stick a couple of ice cubes in though. He likes them, and they melt to dilute it.
  • ds only gets juice occasionally or if he is constipated.  it's always a mix with 1/4 juice and 3/4 water.  why on earth would daycare demand juice???
  • Yes, DS gets 1/2 juice, 1/2 water when he has juice (apple or orange).
